Not among anyone with the remotest knowledge of the state of research. It's not even that pedaling in circles isn't the optimal style, it's actually physiologically impossible. Attempting to circularize the pedal stroke is actually counterproductive to maximum downstroke power. There's a significant proprioceptive cost to making your legs perform the unnatural action of pulling up hard on the cranks, and that interferes with pushing as hard as possible on the down stroke.
Nonsense

You can have a circular stroke if your seat is way too high. Bad idea is bad.
edit: huh, I totally missed the rest of the convo. What dznuzz said.

The fastest car I've ever driven is either a Nissan GT-R, a Lamborghini Gallardo, a Ferrari F430 or an Audi R8. I don't feel like looking up which is faster, but I suspect it's the GT-R. I drove them all on a track, I can't imagine driving any of those on the street. Even on the track the limits are laughably high. On the road they'd feel positively slow.
I think @tetonrider's thoughts on quad/glute imbalance are worth thinking about, @mike868y. As are dz's thoughts on saddle height. U

Any of you guys have Nextdoor in your neighborhood?
Someone on mine just posted a bus for sale. Like a Greyhound bus. They want $15k for it. I don't have that kind of cash for something like that, but I sure thought that it would make for a hell of a race mobile.

Old Navy has cheap athletic clothing. I also go to Target for that kind of stuff.

We had one where the poster was warning us all about a suspicious pair of Latino men who were stalking the neighborhood early in the morning. One would drive a truck slowly up the street while the other ran from house to house, going up to the front door. Obviously looking casing the houses for robbery.
Or delivering the newspaper.

Daniel got upgraded in Track and MTB by asking. USAC always seems pretty reasonable. Response started with "that is just the way USAC works" to the upgrade approved.
So from C to B in collegiate. Still a USAC 5 on track, but there was no request for that.

That's odd. I don't even know what you see me happy about. Cops scared or those in pickup being shot by scared cops.
But soccerdad buddy is a cop in IE. Actually same guy I mentioned who's daughter was in the program Gary's kid is going to at Syracuse. Interesting he came up twice - and doesn't cycle.
I'm not happy about either, but fairly familiar with friends and acquaintances being killed.

At the risk of seeming "happy" about it. Yes.

Sorry, the #Dorner stuff always triggers me. A good friend of mine was one of the guys killed, and #Dorner is usually precluded by an anti cop tweet celebrating those deaths.

Several teammies are cops... after the BLM sniper in Dallas, they are all a bit tense, and understandably so.

Seriously.
My eyes rolled so hard they fell out of my head.

2x20' at ~99% (who knows what FTP is currently) on T, killed it.
2 hrs w 1x90' 81% AP yesterday
off today, some ab work and stretching in the evening
1 hr mtb w coworkers tomorrow after work
then 4 days off for a Yosemite trip! 6 of us are going to camp in upper pines and do Half Dome on M, plus some lighter hikes in the days beforehand. I love the mountains, backpacking and the Sierras in particular. Doesn't look like I'll be able to go backpacking and get way out there this year, but I'm sure I'll enjoy the extra comfort, booze and accommodations that come with car camping .
Next week: I'll take it easy, minus two large rides on Sep 2/3.
Following week: More soft pedaling, probably some swimming
Starting week of 9/12: ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US! Back to the grind and training. I want to ride more and be better next year, this new team and the participation has me motivated.
My stoke level is super high right now. On that note, I should probably get back to work .
