That's not even the good video - I think we had one from behind? Maybe it's just memory. I would be terrified if he actually got into those aero bars. Tim and I were really dragging by that point too, it was yet another "hey, let's ride a century and see if that doesn't jump start some fitness" as a strategy.

I used to be like that about doubles. Bah. But please keep me away from the rando crowd, that's just full blast insanity right there.

speaking of doubles, I might do the Spring Solvang Double again to celebrate breaking into my 40's age group I'll pray for less rain next yr. 110 miles of it sucked in march.

That did suck. And I had rain booties and a rain jacket IN MY HOTEL ROOM.

The long version of the Mr Wobbly video is mostly Tim. Mr Wobbly was only about a minute diversion but when we would be forced to stop, he would catch up

It was bad form. When I noticed his legs splayed out I said that a baby would be shooting out at any moment.

I wasn't there, but that's the video clip I had in mind when I mentioned Mr. Wobbly. Thanks!

Still nowhere near back to 100%, but I've been really good (relative to my usual behavior) this month, cutting back on intensity and weekly load. Certainly won't be getting the digital Strava badges for elevation or distance this month, but I'm coming to terms with it.

Summer refuses to release it's grip. Rides that go past noon are still routinely ending north of 90º. One of the few 4+ hour rides for October started at 52º and ended at 92º. That remains tough to dress for.

The single best thing I've done all month is virtually eliminate climbing. I've done just four rides all month with more than 1,000ft of climbing in it, and it's great. Climbing sucks, and I can say that as a fact because even with drastic personal cutbacks in distance
and elevation, I will still easily break 350k feet this year.

was defeated on Saturday's Filthy 50 MTB race. 97th of 161. Temp swing from 54* to 109* later in the day. I bonked 3 some hours into it, pulled over ate the only solid food in my pocket and limped back to the finish. Lung sounded like i had a hairball in them from the fine moon dust that was inhaled.

There is the 12/24hours of temecula this weekend too on the MTB. Another dry heat kinda day. At this point I think I'll just ride my road bike up to Dana Point or something along those lines. 6-7 hours on the roadie seems more tolerable

I just wrapped up my lowest mileage month of the year-- I made the Strava October Cycling Distance Challenge by a whopping 5km.

As of the time of my completion, I ranked 9,509 out of 193,896-- so inside the top 5%. I forget that other people have stuff like "weather" and "seasons."

I didn't even climb 19k feet this month (previous low for the year, 26,400.) It's genuinely great.

I live in the middle of a valley floor, and work over the hill, so I climb 394ft every day to work, and 272ft every day home (according to google maps), so that's (gasp!) 666 ft/day, maybe 13k ft/mo. Plus whatever I climb on the MTB for 'fun' (the climbing is not fun, it is to get to the fun)

I hope your recovering well from overdoing it!

I'm at 496 miles and 23,960' for October. This is down from my monthly averages of 585 miles and just over 26K', primarily due to missing a whole weekend of riding while out of town for my daughter's wedding. I'll be below average next month due to other family commitments and moving stuff to our Idaho house.

Of course my monthly numbers are nothing like yours Doc! But then again, I didn't hit the overtraining wall.
