Normal Bicycle out of Buffalo NY making wood bikes

Saw this in a local paper here...Interesting the wood frame is lined inside with carbon fiber....They say they can handle all types of weather too...Some of their bikes don't have a chain and are driven by a carbon belt instead.

I would be interested to see what the ride quality is like on one of these bikes.

Yes, not sure who the intended market is for these wooden bikes and at $3000 they are pricey.

I see your from Buffalo too...I wonder if they have a bike that they allow you to test ride at their facility...I'm interested in knowing how they ride....But ya, $3k+ is pricey for sure.

The bikes themselves were works of art and rode exceedingly well. When the company was still solvent I desperately wanted one but didn't have the cash. Now, later in life and more stable it's too late and I think it's a real shame. Bad business principles and terrible management doomed them.

All hope is not lost though! https://materiabikes.com/product/roa...-tempo-walnut/

Just wanted to post about Materia bikes, since they are local to me. I haven't seen one in the flesh though, except the shop window - I'm passing by it quite often.
Agreed that the target market is most probably well-off people who care more about style than bang for buck.

Funny - just yesterday I mentioned here I have never seen a Materia bike outside shop, and this morning on my way to work I actually did see one

I find it interesting that several of the linked wooden bike manufacturers refer to the superiority of wood as a building material for the bikes. "Perfect combination of strength and flexibility" or some such. I hear the same about titanium frames. All of them use carbon fibre forks.

Wouldn't it be awesome if we could somehow build the entire bike frame from carbon fiber...wait.
