Not at all. Go look up some of the old ads for Sandals resorts, possibly generated by the same person. You won't believe the mishmash of photos; sailboats in full sail on land, people standing on water, etc.

I see this quite a bit these days on FB market place, people putting ridiculous prices on things, I think its the same strategy as putting things up for $1 that you really are asking $200 for but it just baffles me. $1895 for a beat up Peugeot???

and the vast majority of those vintage Peugeots were junk bikes. heavy waterpipe grade tubing in the frames, steel cotter pin cranks. bearing cones made of cheese. plastic Simplex deraileurs, or worse, stamped cheese-metal Huret ... bad brakes. spokes made from bailing wire.

they were inferior compared with what was available in the 60s/70s too. heck, the late 60s Dawes Galaxy I had when I was 15 was a superior bike. and the Motobecane Gran Record I bought new in 1975, reynolds 531 double butted frame and forks, tubulars, Campi Neuvo Record shifters, side pulls, completely blew that grade of Peugeot away.

Gitane and Dawes made bikes of that same grade during the period. They all did. That Peugeot was representative of basic at the time and the one pictured was likely for the domestic market with its fenders and generator lights.

I've seen very very few quality peugeots of that era, than most any other contemporary 'major' brand , the vast majority of them were low end clunkers. Schwinns were in their own class of clunker (not counting the superb Paramounts)... the Continental was a step up from the even more common Varsity

Since I owned a UO8 in '71, that was considered Consumer's reports Best Buy. The Gran Record was a higher class, probably compares with the Peugeot PR10

In the early 70s, the Grand Record was Motobecane's top touring/sports model, with only the Team (or was it called Champion?) racing bike above it. I preferred the long geometry of the touring bike

This amazing Raleigh bicycle may very well have belonged to President Barack Obama when he attended college at Columbia University. I can't prove it did, but at the same time- you can't prove it didn't. It's a large bike. I'm 6'6" (President Obama is 6'2"). The paint job isn't perfect, but the frame is in great shape and I recently replaced a tire so they are in good shape as well. The reason I must part with this (possibly historically significant) bicycle is that I am a coward. I rode a few times, but realized I'm too afraid of hurting myself to ride it with any regularity. With this truly amazing bicycle (which might belong in a museum) I am including a very nice bike lock (AND key) which I purchased for $50. I am also including an awesome (but now outdated) Livestrong (LOL) bike helmet. Remember Lance Armstrong? What a fun cultural reference! Lastly, I am including a handheld tire pump. It's small enough to fit in a backpack (or large pants pocket) so you'll always have it handy to adjust the tire pressure. All of this for the low, low price of $200. Yes we can!

My bike, may or may not have been owned by Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Theresa, Winston Churchill, George Patton, Nancy Pelosi, and Mitch McConnell. if you are interested, this bike is not for sale, so make me an offer on this historically significant, and unique bike, and i will tell you to pound sand promptly!
It's a nonsense sales tactic that doesn't mean anything to anyone and is only likely to turn off someone who may be a potential buyer for an overpriced bike.
