brand new to the sport

Hello,


Just moved down by the beach and I am looking to get into the cycling world. i have no clue where to start...


i am 6'2" 250 lbs so i'm sure my size frame will need more than the typical bike..


any info tips and advice would be appriciated

6'2" 250 doesn't need any special accommodations other than a frame size appropriate to that height. But what are you going to do with the bike? Are you actually going to ride on the sand? (fatbike?). The boardwalk? Local roads? Personally I wouldn't find the beach or the boardwalk much fun. Local roads are another thing altogether. Where are we talking about?

thank you for your response! i would like to start off slow with the roads around town, then jump into a riding group and take on bigger rides like the laguna hills, but main purpose would be on roads.
