Bingo.... Picture our selves in our 30s and a 55+ to 74+ old woman rides up on a bent, MTB or road bike. We might talk to her and we might be interested in her ride. We might admire what she does, heck I would today. But I don't think many of us would sit there and say, hummmm...looking good for someone older than my mother. But the cool thing about older men, we have dreams.

No. No one has ever asked how old I am. But I've had other conversations. Please don't tell Mrs. T. I would get more grounded than I did after my two concussions. And that was pretty grounded.

My wife is from Brazil and for Thanksgiving, we had a friend of hers over for lunch. Her friend is from Brazil also and noted to my wife that I have very nice legs. Does that count?

I can't imagine that there are many women, or any age, interested in a old guy wearing sweaty spandex. However, I could be wrong. The Romans use to sell the perspiration from gladiators as an aphrodisiac! My wife would not be a buyer!

And on the photo, I parked there and then rode to Malibu and back.

I've had a few similar conversations, including the occasional "you ride a bicycle at your age?" types of comments.

From a Tri-geek young woman on an organized ride after a rest stop: "Wow, it's great you're still out here getting exercise."
So I rode away from her. With my wife.

If the Younger Girl finishes whatever she has to say with 'blah, blah, blah, sir', then she is likely not coming on to you.

A friend of mine was approached by a good-looking younger woman. She got pretty friendly with him.
My friend said his ego was getting pretty stoked too.
Then she asked him if he needed to stop by an ATM or if he already had cash.

If I did not enjoy an easy camaraderie with people of all ages I probably would not enjoy riding quite as much as I do. Have learned to keep my age (77) to myself and thereby avoid being relegated to "Sir" and, "Wow, that's amazing!", etc.etc.

I am 63, and luckily look 53. Since I started riding in NYC area I have had a NYC Bus stop, the door open and the driver yells out, damn you look great, how old are you? 63 I say, He turns around and tells the entire bus load of folks, 63 - a there is a chorus of ooo's and ahs - the door closes and I pull into a cafe to get a cheese danish and coffee and smile all the way home from Brooklyn to Queens. I love biking.

Also for some reason it seemed easier to ride about 50 miles back them even on my old Steel Viscount, though coming home the typical wind on PCH is at your back, than it is doing the Oceanside to Mission Bay ride.

A few years back I thought I noticed younger-ish women coming on to me somewhat frequently. I was thinking I must have entered a "distinguished looking successful and confident man" stage of my life. --so I mentioned it to my younger brother.
He burst out laughing.
I've never made any mention of any such observation again.

Rarely I notice younger women smiling at me. When it happens several times in a row I figure it's time to check the barn door.

This also reminds me of the list of greatest mis-beliefs on a golf course --#1: virtually every guy thinks he has a shot with the beer cart girl.
