VP components in the US? VP-BC77P bottom bracket?
I tried emailing VP components with no success yet. I'm looking for a VP-BC77P bottom bracket in 124.5 for an 1986 Raleigh Portage.
Anyone have a distributor or shop that ships parts?

Is this for a standard square-taper crank? If so, a standard square-taper bottom bracket of the proper length ought to work.

VP is just a brand.
Assuming you have "British" threads (like most sq. taper BB's) just get a Shimano or other brand of the correct length.

Sounds like a typical cartridge BB. The 124mm is an odd size, as typical are 122.5 and 127
What is the BB shell width? 68mm? 73mm?
Is there clearance to move the chainrings and/or crank arm 1mm or so closer to the frame to use a 122.5mm? You could pick that up at numerous locations locally.

If you need that exact width Phil Wood has you covered. You can get various different cups so you can adapt it to different frames and different spindles (and if you know how to get them out you can swap spindles for different cranks). It will last and last and last and with different colored mud guards you can add a splash of color to the bike.
If you want something of great quality but a touch cheaper the IRD QB-95 is a great option but they max out 122.5 which may not be a problem?
I have used both and love them both.

I am not up on old Raleighs some of them are cool but I was never really into them and now they are going through too many changes to really stick with them. I doubt it would be cheaper to replace with crank and un55 unless you go with an absolute garbage crank and at the point, what is the point?

Do a bit of homework and you don't have to swap a crank.
UN-26 is probably adequate, but I don't begrudge a UN-55.

According to the VP site, their 124.5mm bottom bracket measures 29-68-27.5 from left to right. A Shimano 122mm UN27/UN55 bottom bracket is almost identical on the right side, just a little shorter on the left side (27-68-28). Since the left crank usually has plenty of clearance, I'd order a 122mm and try it. A Shimano 127mm bottom bracket would be guaranteed to clear on both sides, but it would push the crank arms outward, requiring FD adjustment.

IF your FDER will move an additional 2+mm toward the smallest ring, a 122.5 would work. Other option is a 127mm, but your FDER would need an additional 3mm of outward travel.
Do a bit of homework and you don't have to swap a crank.

I have the cup and come that came stock on the bike. So my other option is figuring out how to measuse and source caged bearings or learn how to do loose.
I tried a 122.5 (68) 137x24. It was very close the crank bolts hit the frame on rotation. Hard fail right away. So I measured original spindle to get the exact size at 124.5.
VP is the only company i could find and still no response.

Loose bearings are no big deal. Typically 22 - 1/4" Gr 25 balls you can either order online or stop at any W&S, Ben's, Emery's or really any MKE bike shop to obtain. https://www.sheldonbrown.com/tooltips/bbadj.html

Sheldon shows a "3S" spindle to symmetrical cartridge to be 127mm.

I double checked my over all D length at 124.5 mm.
Based on the chart my center B 52 and right side C 37.5 match up. The left side is longer A 35.
Ads to the confusion as it doesn't match up with anything. I'll look at the specs on the 127.

Seeing as you have the frame stripped. I'd think about taking the frame and crank into the shop and having them try a 127 in it and see how it clears and what kind of chainline it gives you. If it's acceptable, buy it.
Also call first and verify they have a 68x127 in stock.
Or just buy the bearings and rebuild the cup & cone existing. I believe you had gotten a Miyata and were looking at moving this bike down the road anyway.

3S is your size.
Available here, although I can't attest to the quality. The races have an "oxide" coating vs polished.
I've bought a few for flip bikes, so I don't know how well they lasted.
