1992 giant tourer that a friend of mine wanted to throw so I grabbed it
except the wheels and the tires everything is strictly stock but it is time to upgrade to XT 30 speeds (the altus C10 is good and reliable but 21 speeds are outdated for my use so the whole altus componentry used on my bike will be used for another bike that needs it) and turn into a gravel bike (I already have all the parts to do it, will do it soon)

Wow! They were ahead of Raleigh USA. A cassette? That's a surprise. Schwinn did a nice job with this one. I did not know they were so up-to-date in 1989. Do you happen to know the weight of the bike? Looks like it comes in around 20 pounds.

When purchased several years ago from original owner, I was told that it was ridden around the block and put on hook in the garage. It appears to have been a temperature controlled environment from the looks of it.

I took it the other way, and made it an urban scrambler with heavy BMX influences.
Still a blast to ride!

This Gardin was given to a local bike shop owner. It was hardly ever ridden and sat in the bike shop basement almost since day one of its life. Really nice bike but, sadly, too small for me...

Decided I wanted an '80s tourer and found this Nishiki Cresta GT on FB Marketplace. As a test of my resolve the seller was driving across the state for work--passing my exit on his way and refused to stop--so I had to pursue him for an hour and a half to inspect, test ride and purchase. Have not ridden it much since getting it.
It appeared to be original but for the bar tape. I added the front rack, kickstand, bottle and cage, and bell, and swapped the saddle and pedals. Pictures from the day of purchase seem to be MIA.
