so..... cyclocross is a cross-country foot race where you are required to carry a bike?

my favorite part is when the guy tries to heave his bike across the water and jump in after it.

That was cool. Some of those guys riding fixed are pushing some pretty big gears for that terrain. btw I note the announcer says it's a 1960 race although the clip title says 1950.

When I used to mountain bike race, I did it on a single speed. It is a lot easier and faster to just get off and run/push on steep hills or sketchy obstacles. This strategy almost always got me a podium finish when mixed in with geared rigs. It's all about strategy....just like throwing the bike clear across the creek as shown in the video
