Wrap Pump in Foil
I figure my pump (Road Morph) will last longer if it is protected from the elements. I started doing this when I used to have the pump on the underside of my down tube. This pump tends to corrode, and I like to keep road grit out of the moving parts.
I usually wrap it in plastic wrap, using rubber bands to keep it in place. But the wrap tends to come undone.
This time, I tried wrapping it in foil:
Seems to work so far, and looks kind of interesting. Hopefully there will be no metal-metal interface issues that will cause corrosion.

How about an old larger tyre tube? Slip the pump in fold down the ends, slip a rubber band on them and clamp it in place. On the other hand, couldn't you rinse the pump off with faucet water after the rides where salt was on the roads, Al?

This will probably keep the parts together when they fall off the pump. The morphs had a bit of a reputation for the head parts coming undone due to vibration and not being there when you needed them. You have been warned. Check for tightness every now and then.

Wrap pump in foil, sauté over Prolink and bake at 350 for one hour. Garnish with finely chopped cable housing.
Sounds pretty good, really. Definitely low carb.

It's a 1997 M2 Pro.
My road morph has been problematic. Something corroded (nut holding flip out foot thing on?), and parts have come loose. And while I'm *****ing, I can't see the gauge without stopping pumping, and putting my eye up close to it. Color coding for the different pressures would work well here. It's a love/hate thing.

Mountain Morph lives in a Fastback Pump Pack on our tandem. Along with patches and tire levers. Like-New-Condition after two seasons.

Well, OK, I forgot that I have a Morph and as it's on my commuter/tourer, I'll wrap it.
But never on my steel road bike. I won't. I'm sorry.

Yeah a 26x3 tube would hold it. It wouldn't fit in his pump bracket. But it sure would last longer than aluminum foil.

Al, how long do your RoadMorph's last? I had one go bad after 4 years or so. I have had the current one for about 2 years now.

You don't need to wrap it in anything. Just invert it. The handle part should be at the bottom. Water tends to collect at the bottom of the pump, so it's best to have the handle down. Most of the road crud that splashes onto the bottom bracket will also spray onto whatever part of the pump you have closest to the bb
With the old plastic Silca pumps, you needed to tape the top of the aluminum handle portion so water didn't run into the head. Silca pumps just didn't look right inverted, and water would tend to collect inside the handle if you attached it upside-down.
