68 hours at work this week. I hadn't worked overtime since April before that. Glad that's over. Bonus: overtime @ salary equiv. hourly rate. Maybe I should buy a TT bike. Actually, after the week she had, I should buy my wife a TT bike.

Anyway, I only missed one ride, and I should be able to make it up today.

Training w/out a power meter is going fine. No motivation changes or anything. I've been told to slow down a bit by my PM-riding training partners when we're trying to ride low/mid tempo. Shooting for 250-275, hitting more in the 275-300 range from what I can tell.

Another 2 hrs. Felt really strong considering putting 2hrs on the trainer. I hate late afternoon rides around here. To get anywhere you have to fight traffic like a wildcat.

BUUURRRRRP...that was from the World Of Coke museum tour today. Who'd a thought you could drink that much carbonation at one time. Twas cool though.

RAAAALPH....that was from Fire of Brazil restuarant where we just got done eating. Who'd a thought you could eat that much meat in one sitting. Twas delicious.

I'll be paying the piper when I get home next week

One hour on the rollers watching the F1 qualifying.

Ordered a crap load of parts to build up a cyclocross bike for the Halloween Psychocross race at the Dick Lane Velodrome. First race for me since the early 90's. Yikes.

I have a mental issue. It really doesn't bother me.
I've done two, 2hr sessions one Saturday when the weather was bad once. Sometimes I may have to do 2hr sessions 3 days in a row if the weather is nasty in the mornings during a training week. It's just got to be done, so I do it. No need to make excuses or belly-ache about it. Just hook the bike up, put on a movie, and go to work.

A few months ago, decided to start training for a triathlon. Not sure if I will like it. I love running and biking, swimming not so much. I have not swum for many many years, not that I was ever a swimmer. Running was something I did for over 20 years, but not much in the last 10, so thats slow as well.

Have a Coach, and I get 3 weeks of build, with one recovery week. Taking some time to get used to that kind of volume. Some days I have 3 workouts such as Swim, Gym and Run

Part of the reason I am doing this training is that its supposed to be a good balance. When I was biking only I was getting a bit burned out. Now, when I get on my bike after 2 days of other training, I am fresh and excited to ride. Well, fresh as far as biking goes. This week is 14.5 hours of training, next week, 16.5

This week:
Monday: Off
Tuesday: 750 meters swim, 30 minutes gym, 35 minute run.
Wednesday: 1:15 on trainer, HR at 120 (That was tough)
Thursday: 1:15 bike in AM, 45 minute run with 10 minute tempo in PM
Friday: 1000 meters swim, 35 minutes gym
Saturday: 1:40 ride in AM, 1 hour run in PM
Sunday: 4 hour ride

Going to rain all day and not get warmer than 40..

Do I:

A: Take fenders out for a ride
B: Watch a movie on the trainer
C: Tabata's on the trainer to make it end fast

waiting for 9am, maybe getting a cheap frame off CL to build up as a 2nd bike.
I'm postponing my bike ride for this, but 175USD for a giant tcr aero frame/fork/headset is a good deal.

then, bike riding for a few hours.

What college? I work in college admissions.

Been on the road for the last month (work) so it is tough getting the training in. Bring the bike with me but just dont know the roads and dont have a lot of time to work with. Have been running because it is just easier to do and fit in. I feel like a wussy though. Cant wait to get back home and start up some regular training once again. Only 2.5 more weeks of this road trip!

Ahh yes, the northeast. Have fun guys. It is 60 here and I am going out for a three hour ride. Though the chances of me getting rained on is still 80 percent even with clear skies...

JHU. I'm applying ED and really want to go. Beautiful campus and everyone seems really chill. Where do you work?

Feeling mostly better today. Gonna be on the bike tomorrow, as long as the sickness doesn't get worse.

Do I need to ease back into it? I've been off for 13 days, my CTL is down from 77 to 55.

Time to decide what I want to do for base. I'm not sure if I want to focus on weight loss/LSD first and then SST/tempo, or just do SST/tempo the entire time. My season starts in early February, so I've got about 14 weeks.

I have a cousin that went to hopkins, and a few of my friends did as well. Great school, but not my cuppa tea.

In all honesty, it might seem weird to say this now, but you'll probably end up happy wherever you go to as long as you stay true to yourself with your final decision.

I didn't get into my EA school, and then got deferred and waitlisted. Didn't get in at the end. That's all I could think about for a bit, then I got here, and I'm pretty happy with everything. Once I stopped wishing I was somewhere else, I started having a blast and learning a lot.

The school I didn't get into was UChicago, and I'm at Wesleyan now. In hindsight, Chicago was probably the wrong school for me. I've made my share of academic mistakes at wesleyan as well. Senior year is tough so I can make up for them.

Just know that you'll be fine.

I'd say that you'd end up okay no matter what, but I'll let someone else say that because I'm a senior and I'm freaking out over next year.

Ahhh JHU nice. Have never been on that campus and do not know a ton about the school (besides general stuff). I work at a small liberal arts school in way upstate NY called St. Lawrence University. ED is a great choice is you have a clear #1. You can get a great education at a number of places, campus life is real important so I am glad you enjoy it. Worst part of the college game is waiting for the decision.

To be on somewhat of a topic with this thread. Just got back from an hour run. 40's and rain isnt much fun to ride in. Supposed to warm up for the rest of the week so hopefully I can get something in. Just bought some new rollers, looking forward to the joy of crashing in my own living room this winter.

I'm graduated and I'll say it.
"Grow where you are planted"

live fully where you are, one school is highly unlikely to change your life over another. One school will provide some experiences that are a bit different than others... but I think you should be going into this with an open mind considering you don't know what is ahead of you.

If I'd rammed through college with the ideas I had before getting there, my life would be the poorer for it.

a friend went to JHU and quite enjoyed it - but like bikes (to keep us on topic here)...
It isn't about the bike, it is what you do with it.

Status: body is refreshed, mind.... half way there....

To follow in Subby's footsteps, my week's schedule should be:

M: 2 hours predominantly hard tempo (90' up around 86-88%). Core in the PM.
Tu: recovery and some upper body lifting, maybe elliptical intervals.
W: same as M
Th: same as Tu, minus the possible ellptical intervals.
F: either same as W or recovery (based on weekend weather/ride plans)
Sa: Cross race or GR, weather pending.
Su: Depends on Sa. either long ride or OFF. Core/Upper.

Off for some hard tempo. Glad it's not snowing like yesterday.
