Did they reimburse you for the difference in price in some shape or form? Usually, companies would give you a model up if there's no existing replacements, not down.

They did not. Probably should have. But, I bought the 725 as part of a black friday sale that included a bunch of components (some completely fine, some (the saddle) unusable). It is possible that I've still come out a little bit behind, but, getting a usable frame at a minimum of fuss became a priority. I can't lie: Overall the experience was frustrating ( had to initially settle for a blemished 725 as the color I ordered was out of stock, cranks backordered, 725 cracked-took a bit of convincing them that sending a duplicate would just end up in a duplicate problem, etc). But, I do genuinely like the frame I ended up with. It was less of a problem for me, because this year's Boston winter necessitated the use of a beater, but, if I lived in a better climate and was relying on the Leader year-round, I'd have been much more annoyed.

Should also add, that switching out the frame was my idea for a workaround, so, its not like they were trying to pull anything.

The 721 is a better frame for reasons I've already mentioned so I'd say he got an upgrade.

Yeah, I'm fine leaving a few theoretical bucks on the table if it means I'm out riding my bike instead of emailing about it.

I see where you're coming from. As expected, any company will always try to defend their product and attempt to sweep all short comings under the rug by simply denying it.

Yeah, I kind of did a "duh" after I posted it...still, I'm going to go ahead and say I'm not a fan - think it would look better without the indents.

Is it worth it to buy the new 2015 722 heritage for $50 more than a 2012 722 heritage? What are the differences? Also would it have barspin clearance with a leader reaper v3 fork? Thanks. I am having trouble figuring it out, as there isn't much information online.

Okay forget I asked about that. How about the differences between the 2012 722 heritage and the 2015 722 heritage, and is it worth an extra $50 to get the newer one. Thanks.

Made some small but significant changes to the Leaders, to wit:

1) Replaced silver master link on Cretin with orange outer link.

2) plugged threaded holes in Cretin dropouts with stainless steel button head hex screws.

3) Added BFSSFG flying squirrel stickers to seat tubes on Cretin and 721

Pretty sure the 2012 version had a rear triangle that was too long and wouldn't allow the rear wheel to be slammed into the seat tube cutout. Other than that, they're the same.

Recent discussion made me walk downstairs to examine my new 725. Sure enough it's cracked. I'll be contacting leader today and will update with how the process goes.

It's just frustrating.
My 721 is bombproof. Backed into it with a car, wrecked it a few times, it's been locked up, rained on and has about 3000 miles on it. No issues.
The 725 has been treated like a princess. Kept in the house. Only ridden on nice days. No curb drops. No wrecks. No abuse.

What bothers me is that this is a known issue and I've been riding a potential time bomb and could have been injured.
