Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I have lately taken to buying the 7oz Coke at the end of a ride. Must be something in the air. As far as live feeds go, Mexico is off every grid, except the South American ones. If I work at it a bit, I can get a feed out of Colombia, and I can understand enough of it for it to be worthwhile.

My wife has some kind of electrolyte powder that I like, but it's in a jar so I'd need to figure out a way to pack another dose on long rides (usually one bottle [in addition to a plain water bottle or two] is enough unless it's 60+ miles).
The best way I found is to use the snack size ziploc bags for the powder and then just tear off a corner and pour into a bottle.

Agree. I do this too...but last month I was doing a century and somehow did not seal the ziploc bag properly. The mix spilled into my jersey pocket and combined with my sweat to make a sticky clumpy mess.

So double check your seals, people!

Anybody well-versed on Smar****ch technology??

For work, we have a new "system" to prescribe controlled substances that requires a two-step password ID verification process. Up until now, we have been able to enter the 6 digit temporary password from a little key fob that one can keep on their laptop and/or discreetly take out of their pocket.

That system is going away and the new system works with an app on my iphone. So when I need to prescribe a controlled substance, I have to take my iPhone out of my pocket, enter my security code to see the 6-digit password running on the app. My co-worker has an Apple watch and she can have the app running on the watch face which allows her to know the temporary password without taking out her phone.

edit: Smart watch. You can't say it all in one word. Sad!

I am wondering if there is a way to get the app info on a device or smar****ch short of coughing up $400 for an Apple Watch. I don't really want to spend that much $$ if possible.

Any ideas??

Edit: Smart Watch. You can't say it all in one word. Sad.

Nuun tablets are the most convenient, but still sort of a pita. Powerade seemed less sweet, but if I'm riding long enough to have to make a hydration stop, anything will do.

Orange juice... 400k into a 600k, I craved it. It was delicious, but I suffered for about the first 100 of the 200k. Not enough food in me, and too much acid from the juice.

No idea, but might have an excuse to put an Apple watch on the lab budget now with all the 2-factoring I have to do and the profound inconvenience of de-pocketing my phone.

And thanks, Ms. Censor. I will never see that word again without an internal snicker.

Issue is even a crap phone needs to be taken out of my pocket and activated. That interrupts patient flow and frankly I think some patients may see it as rude. So I want the security code on my wrist or laptop.

Maybe strap your phone to your wrist, up under your doctor jacket

I just bet @datlas wears a white tunic with a high collar and buttons up the side and a big reflector on his forehead like the doctor in a Camel ad.

An old pill bottle works well for carrying powdered drink mix too.

I too will never unsee that, thank Madam Censor!
