Left crank arm for FSA mega exo BB help please
Hi, I've knackered the pedal thread on my left FSA comet 175mm crank arm but can't find a replacement anywhere. It's connected to a FSA mega exo BB (24mm with 12 spines). Anyone know if there are any other compatible cranks arms for a mega exo BB? I stupidly bought a new crank set for a BB30 which obviously doesn't fit - could I change the BB or would the frame itself be the wrong size? My other option is to get the origional crank arm drilled with a new thread insert - any views on this? Thanks

Helicoil thread repair is an effective, well established means of dealing with this. The repaired threads are steel, and stronger than the original threads. If your bike shop can do this work, there's no reason not to go that route.

Helicoils are great and not just for repairs; the aerospace industry uses them extensively in new work where aluminum (and other lightweight materials) threads have insufficient strength and wear resistance.

FWIW going from 24 to 30mm axle cranks means a new and more expensive BB and incidentally a new and expensive BB tool
as the 24mm tools don't work on 30mm BB. Probably cheaper to see if the pedal thread can be fixed.
