Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

its a back and forth TT, which relies less on the wind factor
and the guy who was the KOM did it beat the North only segment which a guy did with a tail wind

everybody is more impressed by the in & out KOM segment than only the in. You might not understand the wind factor if you only hide behind in a group ride and never TT solo.

Only the capability to create a route with turn by turn instructions.

I got much utility out of the content of that post. It was certainly better than claiming that KOMs should only be out-and-backs.

Were you under the impression that your response, three weeks in the making, was worthy of something more than a pithy response? That's cute.

Full screen maps in the route builder and segment viewer. Fix the bug when updating a bike mileage.

well if you think a KOM King of the Mountain segment should be reserved for a tailwind flat segment you might not understand what a Mountain is.

I'm not trying to win an argument with you. Your notion that all segments should be loops or out & back has so little merit that winning that argument would be like nabbing that cherished cul de sac KOM. Yay.

I understand that you'd love to force your sensibilities on everyone, but that's just not going to happen. Instead, I'm offering a solution for you: 1) ignore the segments that don't meet your criteria and 2) make some loop and out & back segments of your own. Does it really need to be more difficult than that?

While we are arguing the logic of segments, I have a beef with everesting. It should be loops, and the longer you take should the bigger the prize.

I think the logic of the out-and-back is so that you cant (easily) carry your downhill momentum back up and do a rolling loop that never leaves you slogging uphill.

same thing with marathons that are straight courses from one end to the other end. Small tailwind and you have a record potential course on a good day.

if you want to make a record on a loop you need group effort like they did it’s the Ineos challenge to cut the wind.

One way flat tailwind King of the Mountain segments drafting a group defeats the purpose of single best human effort. It’s just the most lucky effort on a tailwind day that happened to be a Sunday on a group ride with strong riders. The fact that Strava wants us to pay to class on flat tailwind segments and some people do not understand that is beyond comprehension.

3)ignore the ignorants
