Guys, the bbq scene in Central TX has changed quite a bit in recent times. Y'all should read up on it. The good news is there are even more choices for incredible, award winning bbq. Everyone wins.

Today I passed a dude on a unicycle, he was pedaling and reading a book at the same time. Kind of impressive.

Even if the threads were seized, you should have been able to break it loose before rounding the flats on the pedal. The crankarm aluminum threads will strip out before the steel axle on the pedal gives way.
They had gotten rounded before I got my pedal wrench around it. The wrench was a Park Tool PW-4, a tool I use quite a bit. We also tried other wrenches and ended up with vise grips before power tools.

I have removed a lot of pedals as well, maybe not quite as many as you but then again I haven't been doing this for 40 years so I have some catch-up to do ; )

I've worked at a co-op before. It was pretty cool. Got to work on old bikes, repacking hubs, recabling and overhauling. It would be nice if I got paid for it

Dude - donating your time, effort and expertise to those in need is the point. For some people, a reliable bike is a way out of poverty.

I do believe you will get some cosmic, karmic bonus for this.

Clearly it didn't happen right away.

Today I looked up what a listing agent is.

Oh, and good luck with the sale.

You should apply for some positions then!

If you don't end up with the job, maybe ask if you could work for free. Just like, 3 hours a day for two days a week, or something. You'll be able to show them what you're capable of, you'll learn a lot, and when they need to hire for a position they'll already know you, and what you're capable of.

Commuting from SJ to Alameda sounds kinda annoying, but worth mentioning... new shop in a cool area and the owner seems nice, could be worth considering: Bicycle Shop Hiring Part Time Mechanic

But what does he want out of it besides a part time gig fixing bikes? Bike mechanics usually get very little pay and so it may not be worth the effort of getting your foot in the door. I believe I was fortunate to be at a shop for so long going from $12/hr to $14/hr because I also worked for $9/hr, which was BS. I've also been at a co-op since 2009. Very different worlds. For me at least, it was difficult going from helping people learn to charging them for tightening a screw.
