Hello everyone, I'm new
I have a Japanese 1977 ? 27" Schwinn Voyager A76xxx and looking for a Insurance appraisal on it, where can I go ? I can't post a photo but it's an 8 1/2 out of 10. Origonal tires holding air, seude seat, all decals and stickers including on sproket are there and nice, only flaws are a few repairable scrapes on the tubes but none across a decal or sticker. It looks like it was rode about a week or so and forgotton at grandmas.

Hi, you will need to post 10 comments before you can post photos. If you go around and look at all the cool bikes people are posting and just comment on them 9 times, you can post photos.
Alternately you can post photos on another site like imgur or flikr and post the link here, people can follow it.
You won't be able to get much opinion without good photos showing the whole bike, as well as details and components.

...even in the best of condition, these are not hugely valuable. Good solid bikes, but usually for sale on the local CL here in the $300 range. The last one I sold here about 5 years ago went for $350, and it was pristine.

Insurance appraisal? Not here. While this is called an appraisal forum, it's not. Its a value OPINION forum.
Perhaps a local bike shop will give you something. I would expect their valuation would be LOW (most shops have zero interest in older bikes).
You could also hire an insurance appraisal. The odds of him getting it right? Very low, but it would be 'official". Oh, and you will pay for the appraisal too.
By far the easiest way is to monitor eBay for a while, collect data on ebay SALES, not asking prices.

Hi Todd Welcome. If you spend some time here you'll quickly learn bikes have a different value in different cities or markets. Take some detailed photos and copy the ads from similar bikes on CL and Ebay .

I guess that it matters whether your policy covers the value up to the replacement cost or not. You can get the replacement cost by averaging the last [number of] eBay sales including shipping. For simple value, take that average number and subtract the shipping. These are simple estimates but they should suffice. Do you have a special writer for bicycles?
