Hey Wanderer, how those bar ends stay in place without moving? i am having a very hard time to figure this out.

The bar ends are a clamp, themselves. One bolt goes thru one side, into the other. Tighten it down, and they ain't goin nowhere..... I slid the handgrips down enough to mount the bar ends flush with the end of the bar.

Can you guys with bar ends (sweet bikes everyone btw) please take a photo of you using your bar ends so I can see how one is supposed to hold/use them? I've never used bar ends before and les is kindly sending me bar ends, due to arrive next week....thanks so much!

Bar ends are simply there to provide more grip options. Hold them any way comfortable, and if you want the bar ends to be more "padded" if they are just metal, wrap them with roadie grip tape! They are supposed to be more towards horizontal, but whatever way works. Heck the bottle collecting bums around here will have them pointing back towards them to give a more upright ride...haha

There isn't a "right" way to hold them? I tried googling for hand positions, no dice. I'm going to end up having MEC or a LBS install them for me, since I have to move my bike computer/bell/light etc, I suppose they will know the correct position to install them for me?

Luddite - You can start be setting the bar ends so they are 45 degrees from horizontal and adjust from there to find your happy place... rotate them back if the reach is excessive and forward if you would like more reach and a more aero position.

You'll find them useful for out of the seat climbing. They were originally designed as an aid to climbing
for mountain bikers, as well as adding additional hand positions, a very nice feature on longer rides. You
can hold them a couple different ways to further reduce hand fatigue, at the juncture or near the end.
Tilted up can still provide the ability to change hand position, but probably not much help for climbing or
other out of the saddle efforts. Unless you have limited flexibility and/or never ride standing up, I'd
suggest closer to horizontal than 45º, 65er's and most of the bar ends pictured in this thread are
installed at reasonable angles.
Here I'm caught in the process of changing to a more aggressive looking position after noticing I was
being photographed. I've just stood up and have switched one hand to the bar end. The photographer
had actually ran past me on my left, and across my path before taking this picture! Startled me for a
second as I meandered up the hill pedaling with my arches, in untied sneakers, sporting my winter tan
four day after the biggest snow of the season. Then I realized it was just Joel doing his thing. I stole the
picture from his blog, gwadzilla at blogspot. Check it out. He has nice pictures of the beautiful girl on the
cruiser waiting to cross the street in the background of this shot.

My bar ends are close to horizontal. I like being able to stretch out at bit when taking on a headwind, although the front feels a bit 'twitchy' if too much of my weight goes forward.

That's some hybrid action there, eh? Took "combining elements of different bikes" to a new level. There is one parked
on K sreet in DC most days, and I'm seeing them on the street with alarming frequency. Inauguration Day bikers.

Note, there is a longbike hidden under three of those warmly dressed people, not a tandem.
Only the driver pedals. Only recently have I seen longbikes around here.

10-4. I gathered from the context of your caption that the pic included another longbike.
Cycling does not seem to be very popular here in SE Ga...thus a tandem sighting would cause a stir. Someone on a longbike would warrant a visit by the constable or quite possibly some branch of Homeland Security.
Back to the bar ends....I too have a set of no-longer-needed bar ends that I will be happy to pass along. Packed up and shipped free to anywhere that's not...you know....too far away. (New Zealand qualifies as too far) Same deal Les offered....pay it forward when and how you can. Pm me questions or shipping info or both. (they appear similar to the bar ends on Sixty Fivers longbike...without a brushed/silver metal clamp)

This is an alternative to the usual positioning of bar ends, these are more like bar middles. Makes for a lot of options for positioning your hands. The bar tape adds a comfort factor as well. I like where they are well enough that I have not moved them in three years of riding that bike. The only change I've made to the bike in that time is as I've gained bike fitness and flexibility, the adjustable stem is now in it's lowest position. In those pics, it was adjusted all the way up. Good luck regardless of how you decide to install, which is totally up to you, the owner and rider of the bike.

hmm drop bars on a roadie frame with mountain (I'm guessing?) gearing? Hybrid to me. Maybe I'm seeing things, but it looks as if that bike could use a wash...or maybe I just like clean bikes haha. Nice, Functional, what more do ya need?
