Looking for information on this bike
I have this old ladies step through bike and am trying to figure out the age and make. I am thinking it is an old Raleigh however the chain ring doesn't have the bird logo that Raleigh uses so maybe not. It has 28" wheels and cosmetically it's a bit rough, It looks like someone may have given it a home paint job at some point, mechanically it works nicely. I also am wondering about the weird seat post. I think that may have been an add on too.Any information or comments are always appreciated.

It is a Hercules based on the chainwheel pattern. I believe this design was introduced post WWII and used until TI took over and moved production to Raleigh's Nottingham facility,circa 1960. Consequently, I'm leaning towards 1950s. The handlebars and headset however, look much older, based on what appears to be a duller, nickel plate.

The seat post design was a method of moving riders closer to the handlebars and is period-accurate if not original. Concerning is the lack of stem binder bolt, hopefully the wedge is still locked in the quill. Otherwise all that stands between steering and disaster is a coat of rust.

The holes in the handlebar are are probably from brake lever bosses for a stirrup style front brake.

I noted that missing locking bolt too, It concerned me a little as well. I will have to look into that, I don't think rust can be depended upon. Thanks for the input

I found this picture of a Hercules which is dated 1925. Could this be the same era bike with the modifications to the fenders and missing the chain guard? It looks very similar with the supporting tube between the down tubes.
