Questions about a 26 inch rear wheel for my old 1994 Trek
Looking at various wheels, a tad on the clueless side even after reading a few threads. A LBS suggested a Weinmann DM30 36 spoke rim, a local sports store has ALTUS Alex RM4 X101 wheel, also 36 spokes. Fyi, i'm a clyde of 385lbs, please give me some feedback. I'm trying to bring back an old 1994 Trek 850 mountain bike to use as a commuter/more clyde friendly bike. Not looking to break the bank, this will be my second bike, I really want this bike road worthy.

This one has the wider rim so is probably stronger : A LBS suggested a Weinmann DM30 36 spoke rim
That bike was a 7 speed. Have you measured the rear axle length? Is it 135mm? I think both those new wheels you cite are meant for more than 7 speeds so might need a spacer. Is the current wheel that needs replacing a 135mm with 7 speed cassette?
