all this music and money talk has one question on my mind; how did Spears earn 64 million in 2010? i believe it was mostly from her successful 2010 tour. later.

The biggest cut down I gave my daughter's boyfriend was calling him Justin Beiber after a new haircut.

Watching Jerry Brown take the oath. And realizing that the first time he did, I was the same age as my kids are now.

Er ah, no. I'm sure she made a lot from that, but I'm equally sure she has revenue streams that dwarf her "musical" income.

Huh.

We have five or six guys for a campus of somewhere close to 50,000 students and 15,000 faculty/staff that can do A/C work. As previous incumbents in these high paid ($30-35k annually would be tops they would make) guys left, the positions were closed.

At the same time, our University Relations department, which covers media, news, and public-relations has five vice-presidents and eight directors.

It's no friggin' wonder that my office is cold and my machine room is warm.

I know what you're saying, and it hasn't been often that I've taken that kind of risk. But this was one of the ones that had the potential to be a home run, and I had other gigs as well at the time, so I could afford to do it.

@EDR: Muse is good stuff. I've seen them live back in high school and they played a great set. I haven't listened to a new album of theirs in about 3-4 years, but still love the older stuff. Newer stuff, not so much. Have your kids any interest in radiohead? Muse is super influenced by them, as is everyone else for that matter.

@ RX and Grumps: Tv show= How I met your mother. Hilarious. Neil Patrick Harris is full of awesome.

@ Gary: Glad the musicians are taking an interest in your son and that he has worthwhile everyday folk to learn from. Congrats on the PR.

As far as the music debacle.

There's utility to music. If I was sitting in my room and doing work, yeah I'm probably not going to listen to gaga, but if I'm at a club getting **** faced and dancing then I'd probably be better off listening to gaga or some other over produced poppy stuff because led zep wouldn't cut it.

Different music for different uses. Some of her song's annoy me, but I think there's a certain truism to gaga being this generations madonna or material girl.

The new Kanye album for example. I don't think it means anything at all. Like actually, I have no idea what he's talking about and neither does he. He might as well be speaking swahili. It sounds awesome though.

Just watched "The Devil Came on Horseback". Very, very depressing movie. So much wrong and nobody will do anything about it. It's about Darfur, by the way.

Just about to start my third movie for the day. This is what happens when I have a Monday off. No sports on TV, so I watch movies all day. I think it's time for a comedy now. Too much nuclear war, North Korea, Darfur stuff that I've been watching.

Just spent some time on the real Twitter where I was informed about the new Garmin Cervelo kit. One question - where'd the signature argyle go!? Oh right, a concession to Cervelo for joining forces. That was a huge concession though!

Anyway, here was my twitter for the day: I love my Macy's shacket!
