Trek sells a wireless computer for 40ish I think.

Haha. Sorry for the confusion. I'll look around for the Trek.

Bike update: I've sent a few emails to a few LBSs...I need to bring it in to get a full analysis, but I haven't had a lot of time lately. I received mkeller234's white seat (thanks again!) and it's going to kill. I took the seat off but the seatpost won't budge at all. Looks like it's rusted into place (or at least the tube is rusted slightly around it). Aside from that, I haven't done much else, but I'll update this thread accordingly.

I've attempted to take out that seatpost, but it's rusted in place. Might have to soak it in a little CLR or Liquid Wrench to get that sucker out. I'm going to take some time today to finally clean it up a bit and get it prepped for the LBS.

Annnnd finally got it back from the shop!

I'm awful at pictures, but here's a comparison of the front brake before and after a little cleaning:

Christ, those are horrible. I'll snap a better brake pic tomorrow.

I can't wait to take it out for a serious ride. I'm trying to get used to the super-aggressive stance. Scares me a little.

I like it. :woot:

I wasn't sure about the whole idea of the red tire / white tire thing before but I think I like it! :-)

That tire choice is inspired. Very nice.

Glad I saw this update! I have to say, I really like the mismatched tires. I don't know if I would have had the guts to try it, but it really looks cool. The saddle looks good on there, I hope it's comfortable too. I think some red bar tape would complete the fade look very nicely.

Good job on the brakes too.

Ha, thanks. My rain bike was all shiny.... well... was. In the rain, the brake pads like to secrete this black liquid to ends up all over the rims and tires. It bothered me at first, but now I just wipe it down quickly and enjoy riding it.

Always nice to see an update. Thanks for posting the pictures.

Now get out there and ride the beJezus out of it before the weather turns bad.

That's exactly how it was when I picked it up. It's interesting, but I didn't dig it as much as the "fade" configuration.

Thanks for the comments, guys. I still need to update the brake pics.

Ride report: Did a few miles on Saturday -- the Panasonic is smooth, clean and pretty comfy. I need to adjust the angle of the saddle, but it's ready to ride. Temps are dropping and it's pretty wet out here now, but I'm going to ride every chance I get. I need to replace the pedals with cages or clips, though. My feet are often in the way of the front wheel if I take sharp turns, which could get messy.

[QUOTE=mkeller234;9562379]Shimano light action is great stuff and will work very well when you get it set up.

I like red bar tape too...BUT you could get cleanable white tape. Something like Fizik bar tape, it takes 5 minutes to wipe clean. I also think the Fizik tape looks very pimped in it's own perforated way.

+1 on Fizik tape -- my new bar tape of choice. Beats the hell out of plactic foam faux cork tape (never understood what purpose the little pieces of cork serve).

I know this thread is wicked old, but I'm hoping maybe some of the original players still have a subscription for it...

Does anyone know how the DX2000 frames size? I've got an opportunity for a local-ish pickup at a good price but it will involve 3 hrs of driving total. I don't want to waste that or go through extra exposure if the bike was too small from the get-go.

Seller reckons the standover is 29" ( ~737mm) and top tube is 21" (~533mm). Does this sound like the correct numbers for DX geometry? And what would stock reach look like on this size frame if anyone has any idea?

Possibly answered my own question... according to this - https://www.panasonicbikemuseum.info...ycles-catalog/

That makes this bike a very small 20"

Right. They came in sizes of 2" increments on the even numbers.
