Bent axle

So i have a suzue track hub with a decently bent axle. Not bent to the point where it wont spin, but just noticeably. I heard from some people out there that there's actually a correct method to hammer-bend it back (no money for a new one). Anyone know anything aboot this?

Loose Screws has replacement nutted axles in various lengths for around $15. Look here:

If it still works OK, then leave it alone until you have the money for a new one.

An interim milder repair might be to flip the axle upside down 180 degrees in the dropouts and hope it bends down toward a straight alignment.

to answer your question is to take the axle put it on your worktable take a soft hammer and strike it until it straighten, and yes it 50/50 it may work or it wouldn't, in most cases it wouldn't and will break when you tighten it. like others said turn it 180* or best is to replace it, when you can.

Well, I suppose there really isn't anything that can go horribly wrong if you try to brute force hammer the axle straight. Worst possible outcome, you ruin your axle, but if it's already bent so what.

I suppose there is a slight possibility of spontaneous failure, and locking up your rear wheel. Even that, if you have a front brake isn't that dangerous. Who knows, a hammer might save you $15 or so.
