I've mentioned before that I am trying to use my standing desk more. So far, I am doing pretty well, standing at least half of most days and almost all of some days.
But on the mornings when I lift before work, I just cannot tolerate standing.

Does anyone else enjoy removing splinters? I'm not quite so crazy as purposefully getting a splinter so that I can remove it, but it has crossed my mind.

I used to be quite active on /r/velo, but the anonymity of that "forum" and website causes the trolls to just come out in droves. I still use the site as my primary source of news / memes / entertainment, but posting there can be frustrating at times.
Don't even get me started on the 4chan cycling community though lol.

Yeah, I was on 4chan (/b even) many years ago, when that sort of stuff still seemed edgy instead of awful. I can't imagine anyone going anywhere near that place looking for actual useful advice or discussion.

So I had posted awhile back about my son not being really into trying to ride a bike and just kind of having trouble with pedaling and such, yesterday just spontaneously he decides to take his bike out and he ends up riding 1/4 mile around our neighborhood. Pretty cool. Thing now is that he's on a 16in bike and he's 4ft tall so he could probably use a 20in bike, probably not a geared model

I think it's time to pull the trigger on a balance bike for my daughter. Spring is here, she's almost 26 months old.
I like the way the classic Strider 12 looks, and it's pretty cheap and not super heavy. Anyone have better recommendations? I don't want to spend a thousand dollars, but I do want it to be light enough that she can use it easily. She's pretty tall and wears 4 or 5T clothes, so I'm guessing she can handle any normal weight one.

Oh god. I just submitted my full registration for LoToJa (P123 Category).. Motivation was lacking recently. Signing up for a race should help me with a kick in the ass to start doing my intervals again...
Weight to lose, miles to ride and plans to make.
What have I done..

anyone work from home full-time? (I do now) consider moving to vermont and they could pay you! Vermont will start giving people up to $10,000 to move there and work remotely - The Boston Globe

it does, which was why I was ambivalent about trying to do it, but I was going in on Mondays and Fridays, so my office is a ghost town anyway, and the flexibility of working from home for kid stuff far outweighs seeing coworkers, especially one who is pretty unbearable lol

I worked from home full time at a previous job. It was nice that I didn't have to worry about commuting, but I did miss seeing other people.
At one point, my wife was out of town for 3 weeks. While she was gone, I didn't leave the house other than to walk the dog or go to the grocery store. I only showered when needed and didn't shave. I did not look good.
I have a friend, he and his wife both work from home full time. His comment was that it was nice not commuting, but the line between work time and not work time was blurring. He found he was working almost all the time.

I think I would lose my mind working from home 100%. When I'm super busy and have enough to work on (and I'm motivated, etc) I can handle it for a couple days, but I enjoy going into the office (at least when I'm enjoying my work, right now I'm just coasting until I hear back from an interview, but anyway). Days when I'm not motivated (like right this moment, while I'm posting on here) I would just feel like **** for pretending for 8 hours. At least when I'm in the office the pretending feels more authentic and less like stealing.
Not commuting would save some time though, but there's something to be said for face to face interaction with humans who aren't my wife or children.

if i didn't ride, it would be a lot harder to work from home full time, cycling gives me something to do in the middle of the day and have that bit of separation between personal and work time (plus I'd probably train less if I wasn't working from home). Working out also forces me to shower on a daily basis too lol I'm also lucky in that my work is very much just 8 hrs, and only during normal business hours, so I'm not working in the evening or anything.
As for the vermont thing, while it isn't too far from where I am, I think we'd miss being close to the beaches here in MA, plus with my wife's work and son's school the decision to pick up and move wouldn't be an easy one. But there would be some good cycling up there!

Anyone following dk200? This race interests me more and more very year. I've got an old friend riding it this year and he looks like he is struggling a bit from the live tracker I can see. Seems like a hard day out there. I'd really like to try a gravel race before the end of the summer!
