Some weeks ago I just got a Trek FX 2 as an alternative to my Trek Emonda. On that, I use a set of Shimano SPD-SL Pedals. I know that I don't want to use an SPD-SL Cleat/Shoe style on the FX 2. I want to use a two bolt SPD style cleat/pedal on the FX 2 with some mountain bike shoe that would enable some walking, as compared to my road bike setup. The problem is, I am really unfamiliar with the specific pedals, other than the PD-M324 that my wife has. I suppose that those would be ok, but I have heard that they are a bit heavy. I was thinking of what my local shop calls a "Road Pedal" for the two bolt SPD Cleats (they don't carry them).

A600 is the older, one-sided, lightweight SPD
ES600 is its replacement. It is 7g lighter because they lopped off the tail end, which also makes it balance crappier.
These two have better coatings on claws, springs, and spindle. Service is via flat wrench, installation is ONLY via 8mm hex.They come in a greyish blue which should match nothing else on your bike, unless you have that blue 2000ish Deore LX group.

ED500 is double sided and has the old axle
A520 is one sided and has the old axle
Service is via $3 spline tool, no coated springs or spindle.Installation is via 15mm flat or 6mm hex.

I just go with double sided M540 (available in silver or black) or XT even on road bikes; EH500 for SPD/flat is good for versatility; one sided pedals seem too limited.
