After much hemming and hawing, I finally pulled trigger on Le Champ Ti Heat

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Congrats...

I guess I am too late to say that taking off the decal will void the BD warranty. That is, if you care about the warranty. Great looking ride!

No clear coat, wasn't that hard. Used old kitchen towels, wrapped them around frame where decals were, soaked em with Acetone, then wrapped em really tight with heavy duty foil. I tried Saran wrap, but that was a friggin mess, foil ended up being easier to manipulate and hold in solvent. There is some ghosting, but I'm out of Acetone, so some other day I guess. I don't really mind that you can see slight ghosting of logo, plus I'm more interested in just riding the damn thing!!!

Anyone want to expand on this? Thinking of going ti for a new race bike, but might go with carbon to save weight if there are no real advantages

That's weird - it does look like it may be a 32 in the back, but I think Rival is supposed to come with a 28.

Living in San Francisco it's probably a benefit, though.

And nice job on the decal removal. Looks great.

Ok, it's a 11-32, which i guess Rival can run. Wonder if I should request 12-28 that is supposed to come with bike?

I don't know...do you ride the craziest of the San Fran hills? What are your other bikes geared like?

Not any more, I moved to Texas three years ago. I need to change my profile, doing that now. Really have no need for a 32

Personally I would ask for the Sram 28 as it's advertised. I ride a 32 but we have some major hills around here.

Ok, so turns out bike has SRAM's latest wifli derailleur. From SRAM:

Sacrifice nothing...not durability, dependability, or performance - nothing. The SRAM Rival WiFLi Rear Derailleur lengthens its cage and gets a slight variation in geometry to accommodate an 11-32 cassette.* The range of gears is wider than the standard triple chainring system and saves a significant amount of weight.

WiFLi offers a wider gear range and is compatible with cassettes up to 32T.
Exact Actuation means precise, even gear changes throughout the shifting range.
Aluminum cage and inner link allow for weight savings with added structural integrity.

So? Presumably you have a few miles on the bike. Thumbs up or thumbs down?
