The truck bike
Cool! There's a section for utility bikes. My first utility-specific bike is this Taiwan-made straight tube step-through with a straight fork ,coaster brake pink 26" Schwinn that I found on my street about a year ago. It was meant for the mobile metal guy. It came with no-name MTB tread tires. I have yet to have a flat on it because I have also used it to experiment with low pressures. I do all my errands less than five miles away on just 20 psi. I feel enlightened, lol. I've only put a fresh chain and grease on it. So there's that, and I use it a lot, and I want more cargo. I'm totally capable of getting a hold of some scrap metal and going to the muffler shop with some cash to weld on front and rear support bars so I could mount a basket or a plank of wood. I haven't mounted any of the racks I have because I want something stronger, something I can put brake rotors from cars on. Maybe an axle because I work on cars a lot, and being able to take some rotors to the shop around the corner to get resurfaced on a bike would be lit. Then I stumbled upon mixte frames and some of the things they say about them, some mentions of strength I can wrap my head around as I see the frame resembling a design you might see on a bridge. So now I'm shopping the used market for one, and this time around, I want gears. Then I found a chromoly one. Time passes as I simmer on the idea, and I come to an epiphany. Why don't I just turn the damn ibis chromoly 21-speed tandem that I already have into a truck, with a straight flatbed where the stoker would be? The darn thing is built to hold another 200 or 250 lb person in the rear as is. Lol. It would be so much more aero than having all the side carriage. I'm super anxious to try bike camping. The only thing sorta holding me back was figuring out why I wouldn't or how could I take my 70 lb 16-person tent with me. I think I just cracked that case wide open. Lol. Wow, maybe it will be a short trend, the truck bike. Lol. Anyway, just sharing another one of my many runaway ideas. Ideas? Suggestions? Be nice; I'm not afraid to get banned.

I’ve used my tandem solo many times for cargo runs, particularly for long items like shovels and rakes.
