Giant 2020

Has the Escape line been replaced with the Cross City line? The only Escape models I can find on the Giant site are 2019.
Frank.

Hope not. The 2019 Giant Escape disc with the carbon forks looks like an excellent bike.

I liked it but the cockpit was too cramped for me. Hate to see it go if it has been replaced as I have recommended it to a few of my friends. Will have to see if they do add it to their site later.

The new 2020 Escape 3 is already out on Giant’s website.

It’s only a matter of time when the 2020 Escape 1 and 2, will be out. Most likely very soon. That’s my prediction.
Doubt the Escape line would be replaced, if the 2020 Escape 3 is available now.

Thanks, found it. I had only been able to pull up the 2019 models. I also hope the 2 & 1 are added. Over all a nice bike.

It looks like the Cross City bike line is sold in Australia (plus other locales perhaps). I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same frame as the Escape...or at least very close and serving the same purpose in Giant's product portfolio.

Edit: ha! If you go to the Australian site and look at the Cross City bikes, the webpage title (up in the browser tab) actually says "Escape". Link.

It took a little time last year for Giant to add all the models to their website.

Have you seen the 2020 Giant Fastroads? Giant Australia has had the 2020 models up for a week or two. Obviously they're a flat bar road bike, as opposed to the more traditional hybrid that is the Escape. They're a few hundred dollars more in all markets, but they look like an excellent option for flatter riding. The Fastroad 1 SLR (rather than the composite/carbon framed Fastroad Advance) really looks like a great deal this year, as it has Praxis cranks and 105 components. Those cranks take a road double spider (to hold two chainrings) or you could replace that with a single ring for a 1x11 set up. It's about $400 more than the Escape 1, but it has the components to justify that difference. Also, crucially, the Fastroad 1 SLR has a composite seatpost to smooth out road chatter, unlike the Fastroad 2 SLR, which has an alloy seatpost.

Looks like the 2020 Escape 1 and 2 are now on the Giant’s website. Specs and pictures are now on there. To order though, it appears to be coming soon.
I harness a guess, they will be available within a couple weeks.
I’m looking at the Escape 1 myself. Very snazzy looking bike. The metallic blue Escape 2 looks nice as well.
Tires appears to be 38, up from 35 of the 2019 model.

The 2020 Giant Escapes do look nice. The Escape 1 has tubeless tires and the metallic pearl paint job looks sweet. I was kinda bummed to see that the Toughroad SLR 1 won’t be released in the US. Too bad. That copper color is awesome. Looks like that rumor about Giant phasing out the flat bar version of the Toughroad(at least in the US) turned out to be true. Too bad really. I think for adventure touring flat bars are better. But thats me.
