My second Pinarello in the fleet, just traded for this Catena Lusso. Columbus Matrix tubing and Shimano 600 group point to it being a 1986 model. After riding one my size I am hooked.

@rgver - Nice! This is an "Italian Ice" color scheme. Yet another Pin that shed its decals!

@SJX426 The Italian is still there, some of the Ice (what seems to be a seperate pearlescent top coat) is worn/scratched. I am torn wether to ride as is, redecal, as I have the red one for my wife or go for full refinish. If I went the refinish route I would probably go with a solid red rather than the Italian Ice scheme. The re-decal on the red one went very well but its finish was in excellent condition other than the decals

@Grand Bois - Sorry about my poor grammar! I was excited about starting this thread hoping we could capture more information about the marque with fine examples.
As an update to my efforts in saving the Tre Cime, I have loaded a number (130) of pictures in Flickr. They are close ups of joints of the frame with nearly all the paint removed. There are a couple of interesting features found, some good, some not so good and some bad (rust). If you are interested, feel free to cruise. The album includes pictures of what it looked like at purchase, phases of paint stripping (extremely time consuming) and the bare frame. Here is an example:

@SJX426 cool album, what are your plans for it. Excellent job on the tedious stripping process, it's not fun. I'm debating wether to go this far with the recently acquired Catena Lusso. It doesn't look as far gone as yours though.

@rgver - Thanks. It is a labor of love for my daughter. She wants a road bike and I found this for <$160. For all the disparaging remarks about Italian paint, I can tell you that some of it is nearly untouchable with aircraft paint stripper! You can see all the little bits that still remain.
So I am trying to clean it up in terms of paint removal. I was thinking of OA bath but have not decided. There is the rust conversion material that I may use instead. As mentioned, I have filed down some of the extreme brazing material to clean up the finish along with parting lines. When done with the prep, it will be primed and then painted the fuchsia color in the brochure found in the album.

I have not decided what group to put on it yet. Initially I was thinking Superbe Pro but that group may go on the Trek 760 purchased subsequently. Ideally it would have Victory parts as it did when it was new. After going through the bins, a number of 105 parts showed up, brake calipers, FD, pedals, and crank. I need RD and brake levers to complete the set. Stem and HB will be Cinelli and the post may be a Kalloy I have. I could use a Campy NR post but I am not sure yet. It would be too difficult for her to adjust.
White cables, bar tape and maybe the Terry saddle like I got my wife.

Wheel set is still open. She should probably have clinchers but I do have some tubulars with Mavic 501 hubs that would be sweet and low maintenance. Come to think of it, I might have an extra set of those hubs. Hmmmm.

105 kit is solid though. I really do think clinchers are the way to go. I can't wait to see this one done.

@rgver - Well it is not done but I did put it together because my daughter is coming to town in a couple of weeks and she want to ride it. It still needs some detail attention before paint. I have primed the fork but not the frame. Here is a preview of coming attractions:

Not much room around the ST :

Or the Chain stays:

So I guess this is max tire size:

I picked up this Montello recently. It is on the stand getting all torn down to get built back up. The paint and chrome are in very good condition but the decals are shot. Since it is way too small for me I will be selling it. I picked it up for such a good price I couldn't pass on it. It has Dura Ace components with the exception of headset and seat post. I will post some pictures when I finish it. Anyone have an idea of what year it is? It has an all chrome fork with sloping crown.

Cool bike. Looks like a late '80s Montello. Does it have Pinarello dropouts? @Old Yeller has a very similar one posted on page one of this thread, and I also have one I'm in the process of restoring. Is that white paint original?

There is a good site for looking up Pin's in Cats. It is currently down but you might check in a week or two, https://bulgier.net/
I don't recall the color scheme for each year as I was only interested in mine (doh). Which HS was on the bike? Mine is all DA with Chorus HS.

The white is original as far as I can tell. I have seen pictures of another one that has the exact paint scheme in yellow instead of blue so that makes me think it is original. The dropouts are Pinarello.

It had a fairly new Ritchey headset. That came off tonight and will be replaced with a Dura Ace headset that just arrived today.

Finally got around to taking a photo of my wife's finished Cadore. I have had it finished for a while, I got to photographing it before she has got around to riding it. I'll still be keeping my eyes open for a chrome fork for it but I think that's all that needs doing, maybe white hoods too.
