Nice work all the way around, always good to salvage anything you can imho. The process and practice is valuable as well when it shows you what can be done with patience and effort. Mangled pieces can also be used as patterns and examples when trying to find replacements.

In the course of a search over at Tonton this day happened to chance upon a cycle which looks to be a close cousin to your machine. The posters there date it as 1953.

Will glue some images in here and post a thread linque at the bottom.

Not the correct chain guard but it will work for now.

Loosely assembled - some adjustments and final fittings to do.

This is where we're at with the Peugeot. Some final work still to be done to it but it's all together for now. Thye decal on the frame was made up before we knew it was a Peugeot. It reads "Li'lle French number"!

What did you end up doing about the steerer tube repair? Did you reinforce it somehow?

At the moment I haven't done anything else to it. I'll keep an eye on it. The post for the handlebars is gripping against the original stem below the repair. If the brazing breaks it may loosen but can't drop out or pull up, and it can't twist due to the step in the repair. We'll see how it holds.. If it does break then I'll machine an insert for it.

Well up till now I thought the bike was a 1947 Peugeot PL45 but looking at the frame lugs on this Tendil I think I may have to reconsider.

Many thanks for posting Juvela, that's a rare find. I really appreciate it. The funny thing is I was searching through the night last night as I lay awake through jet lag and then to see this this morning was terrific! Thanks.

Thanks, juvela! That '39 catalog is wonderful! Pity I can't just go and order me a Puppo Professionnel "Leger" for 1,575 old francs.

Tendil

Hi, I've got a mid to late 50s Tendil Origine road bike that's a bit tatty but great to ride. I've done a couple of 100 mile runs on it, great fun. I'm new to the site so can't post photos unfortunately. Simplex TDF derailleur and suicide front bar. Weighs about 10kg which is much less than my other old bikes.
