My garmin said it was 23 degrees for my ride today :-P

I'm happy to ride any bike, but I'd be REALLY happy with 50 miles of asphalt right now!!!!

I can relate. I can handle almost any temperature but the roads here have not been dry for at least two months. One storm after another. The trainer is ok but I have difficulty getting more than 1 1/2 hours in because of comfort.

Tough little 34 miles yesterday, 2000 ft climbing thru Ventura County foothills, Grimes Cyn, Old Balcom. Low 50s start, drizzly fog, even a few rain drops, 60s at the finish. To think the Eroica ride is double the miles and more than double elevation, at least we didn't walk yesterday, and we didn't do any dirt. Sad day, when I got home and heard about Kobe and everyone else.

Looking south from Grimes Canyon (plastic sheltered hot house tomatoes) Kobe's crash was out there in the clouds across the valley from here. Sad day, RIP #8/24.😢

Sometimes motivation comes in the way of retail therapy.

My kids tell me Eroica is just a form of adult cosplay. This year the Raleigh Gran(d) Sport(s) is staying home, I'm riding the Centurion Pro Tour, so it's time to come up with a new team jersey. I gave Spectrum Embroidery an old decal to reproduce, they came up with this:

I should thank Straightblock , my mechanic from BITD for inspiration.

Ugghhh. Training? I ride pretty regularly, but Eroica does require me to elevate my conditioning. One thing I do not recommend to prepare for this ride is going to training, for work, for two weeks. Sitting on my butt for two weeks and eating Memphis bbq...and there was beers too.
First ride since being back, was not pretty. So I need to hit it hard and add some roller sessions too. And I may need to get my bike built as well.
See you there.

Plus we're riding to Eroica, we'll need Saturday for recovery.

Down 14 pounds in 30 days and have a couple hundred miles of riding coming up over the next two weeks.

I'll be ready.

^^^^^Yeah, that! ^^^^^ I need to lose weight FAST. i just cannot do that which needs to be done. start NOW i guess. the Fast Cat podcast calls it "winning in the kitchen". I gotta start doing that!
I will be ready, make no mistake... but i can always opt for a shorter, less vertical ride... I was HEROIC last year, dont need to prove anything this year. Plus meeting the others in Monterey for a leisurely ride down to Cambria. ( I am cutting out 2 of the 4 days of the ride, too much work, not enough vacation time! I will be glad when I am not working full time, getting to that age!!! )

Insist on 100% Merino not a blend.

Or your really not buying a wool cycling jersey.
I'd like to buy a "you're"!

I will not be wearing wool at eroica, but I will likely make my own Molteni jersey with a marker and a T shirt :-)

I'm finally mostly recovered from an off the bike injury and lingering respiratory virus, and got in a 62 mile ride with a modest amount of climbing on Saturday, my longest ride in 3 months. I'm signed up for the Scalatore route but might settle for the Santa Lucia route. Either way I'll need to start riding more hills.

Obligatory bike pic from a detour to the dirt paths in the city park:

I was considering getting the same jersey with Peugeot logo in the middle. Great look!

Beautiful sunny day here!

Got 2.5 hours on the bike, snow was quite soft though as it has snowed a lot lately. I ended up quitting a bit earlier than I wanted as I was a bit short on clothing, once it got to 12* F I called it quits.

Somebody bought the Moto name, I chuckle at the headbadge on my bike, USA? And this bike was certainly not made in the USA...

There are actually some big mountains behind those clouds,

And the clouds finally cleared a bit when I got back to my van

So how many miles did I ride is 2.5 hours on quite soft snow? 14, LOL! I felt great though, which is nice considering how little I have been on the bike as of late...

Rode an almost century on Saturday, hit the wall at 85 miles, didn't drink enough water, all bike path, almost no climbing. Felt pretty good all in all.

My Italian grandmother lived in Big Bear. Classic SoCal thing to do was ski there in the morning and go to the beach in the afternoon.
