I have the worst Knees... in pain at every step... but riding... as long as you adjust them... you should find that happy medium... took me forever to find the "magic" setting... between saddle height, saddle tilt, saddle forward/back, and then cleat postioning... it is a real "ART" to get your bike set up....SPD's work for me

clipless mtb pedals is the only way to go for commuting.
