2019 Trek Domane SL6 - 650b max. tire size

A friend is considering the purchase of a 650b wheelset for his 2019 Trek Domane SL6. He is wondering what max. tire size will fit. Any insights? Especially from anyone who has this specific bike with 650b wheels?

We know how to take frame measurements to get an approximate answer, but are looking for a specific tire and size from someone who has done this.

For reference, the archived Trek spec. is 700x32 max. for this bike. And, a search of BF threads on this specific topic did not yield results.

Thanks!

I don't have this specific bike - just wondering why your friend would be considering smaller wheels for a Domane.

He wants to be able to use bigger tires than will fit on a 700c rim for more kush and better traction in certain conditions. By downsizing to 650b he may be able to do this.

I don't have any experience with 650b on the bike, but I have a 2018 Domane 'Gravel' bike, which I use as my dedicated road bike. It came with 700 x 35 G-One Allrounds, but I never rode it with those tires. I remember thinking those looked kind of tight, and the factory rims aren't very wide, 17mm maybe. Also, this bike already has a low BB, so depending on which 650b tire does fit, might bring that a bit lower.
