Will be 63 next month. Occasionally an over zealous or semi-blind grocery store check out person will ask me for ID and I tell them I'm going around milepost 21 for the third time . Sometimes they understand what I'm talking about.

Old people look some silly with all the sagging and wrinkles in that fancy gear. It would be much better if they dyed their hair and wore a girdle, or rode at night, preferably all three. Cycling really is for the beautiful people draped in carbon - others need not apply.

On topic, I was tutoring a gal that wanted to become a commercial electrician. She was 75. But she explained for "true age", you just add the digits together, so she was really 7+5 = 12.

@ jimmuller - now that's funny! Well....you get the idea. I just turned the big 5-0 a couple of months ago. I like to say I'm "32 with 18 year's experience". As an aside, birthdays NEVER bother me, and nobody ever guesses my age (usually say I'm in my 30's), but when I received a big envelope in the mail from AARP I cried!

OK well the way I counted was that I reached 39 then every subsequent birthday was 39 again. Kinda like the movie Ground Hogs Day with Bill Murry.
