Battery rack
Hi I'm building an electric bike with the phoenix racer 48 volt system I purchased from electric rider. I've just about got everthing worked out except best way to mount th 56lbs. of batterys. (4 12 volt SLA 17 ah batterys) I 'm going to use it as a commuter bike 23 miles each way. I'm converting an old 1996 V1000 Canondale full suspension bike. What's the best way to mount the batterys? I'm concerned about mountint then over the back tire, was thinking it would be better in front of the seat post. Any recommendations? Thanks

I agree about keeping the weight off the back. Keep it as low and centered as you can. If you can rig up some clamps to hold it under the down tube but out of the way of the front tire with the fork fully compressed and the crank and pedals, that is good. I have seen some mount them on either side of the front half of the frame.
