When did Univega go to the Gran Touring instead of the Gran Turismo?

I can't provide a definitive answer, due to conflicting evidence. The 1984 catalogue shows the Gran Turismo but no Gran Touring. I have a road test indicating that the Gran Turismo was still in production for the 1986 model year. The 1987 catalogue shows the Gran Touring but no Gran Turismo. That would seem to indicate 1987 as being the crossover year. However, one member reports having a 1984 Gran Touring with a late 1983 serial number, which is contradiction with the 1984 catalogue.

An "Ask T-Mar" thread should be a sticky already.

My late-'83-built / '84-model-year is a Gran Tourismo.
Has mid-fork braze-ons for rack, which I believe was a mid-model-year change. Univegas were known for changing specs whenever they felt like it!
