@VanceMac @Allegheny Jet @Colonelmom Nice racing all!

Sounds like a good idea.

Awesome. These are sanctioned? You are getting upgrade points?

+1. It's a fun scene, but I don't get it at all. Very little actual racing -- it's basically a dirt time trial. Which most MTB races are, as well, but cx isn't nearly as fun as MTB... so... I don't get it.

Second race much better. Sat in the entire race. Had to dig a few times because the 3 Pro cat 2 women where attaching each other. Total of 14 gals... Managed to give the gal I came down here with a lead out and she snatched 3rd. I held on for 6th. Very happy :-)

+2! My race team and USAC have been really promoting cross lately. Nope, not gonna bite! You fall down too much and there's poison oak EVERYWHERE.

Fort Lee 45+

Hard crit with a hill and false flat. After a few tries got an eight man break to stick, and blew up a huge gap. The guy who beat me last week tried a few times to get away. He attacked on the false flat going into three to go. I turned myself inside out to get to him, towing another guy. When I got there he shut it off. Crap. He was trying to get rid of me. Attacked. 1/4 lap later at he same spot and rolled away while everyone looked at me. He soloed for the win. I sprinted long, mostly in the saddle, for second.

Good result, and I'm not sure what I could have done differently down the stretch without help to change the result. Still have form. Still chasing one last big win. Mentally I'm a bit tired. After saying no no no I'm back to thinking about Boston. Can't race next weekend though...family stuff.

I'd make a crappy gambler. Never would know when to get up from the table.

Thanks for listening diary.

Yes the races are USAC sanctioned. The fields are 9- 12 for the Car 3/4's. I will upgrade to a 3 as soon as the series is complete.

In our area the first lap in cross races is paramount to a high finish and that is where mad skills and fitness are needed most. Cross races are 5-7 laps for masters so the spectators are more into the race dynamics.

I raced well on Sunday.. just don't have the snap in my legs after the two previous races to hold on to the field when there are kickers involved.. there were three short little kickers that the 1 2 gals would attack.. on... I held on as long as I could.... but OTB about 1/2 through the race... finished and was not DFL.. so all in all a good weekend of racing :-)

State ITT tomorrow. Guy who you'd expect to win starts 30' behind me. Biggest threat to him is another 30" back.

Epic road race! Mattm had it right, what a great write up. Congrats on a really strong, smart ride!

TTing - yeah, that's a tough one, isn't it? I'm new to it, and I have not at all figured it out ("going fast in a straight line" - not!). It sounds like you're almost there. Great work!

Just a terrific report, and welcome to us, umm, "of age" types!

Super fun (and sanctioned) keirin tournament at VSC last night. Video of one heat here.

Have a business meeting in Monterey Wednesday, so planning to stay over and check out Hellyer's Wednesday Night Racing.

Then an upgrade omnium back at VSC Saturday.
