Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? You think you like it now, wait until it's assembled correctly...

Thanks! It will be an all round bumming around town bike. I work less than a mile from home so that's not much of a "commute".. Thanks for the heads about the QR. I'm learning on the fly here!

Hey, whose to say you have to go right to work ! Take the long way and stop for coffee. I am a bike commuter myself, work isn't so far away as well. I never go right there first...

Wrong. It is aero, that is why the brakes are behind the fork. It also has a shorter rake fork for more track feel. Get with the times man!

The KHS flite 100 again. Still have to cut the steering tube but new bars + Stem (deda pursuits/Cinelli Mash Stem) and cranks (sugino RD2). Need some end caps and bar tape as well. TenSpeed are you from east lansing? saw the pic of your felt on the red cedar river a few pages back.

Actually, it looks like the whole front end needs to fixed on that Kent...the brake cables are going over top of the handlebars.

Teknomage - you're going to need to fix that or find someone to fix it for you. I don't think I'd ride that in it's current standing.

My SS beater/townie. I'm slowly putting this together with nicer parts...when I find a nicer frame popup locally, I'll probably replace it and move the nicer parts over to the new bike. Added the basket a few weeks ago, put the tires and brooks on today. The brooks seems to be pointing at the sky, but when I level it out, I feel like I'm sliding off the front. I'm sure I still have some dialing-in to do.

the way i do a brooks is imagine the wide back section as the part to level out and ignore where the nose points, then you should be golden.

it makes like an ass hammock when set up right, youre more "in" the saddle than on it

looks fine to me

also +1 moar stickers. i think i should start doing this to my beater

Basket is the Portland Design Works Takeout Basket. Someone else posted a photo of their bike with it and I bought it a week later, haha. It's a great little basket.

I really like the basket, but are my eyes playing tricks on me? Or have you not finished the basket instal? I don't see any supports. Or is there a stealth bracket?

That basket attaches to the bars using very sturdy clamps. No real need for a lower support:

Yep, and it's not that big of a basket that you would carry something too heavy for the supports. Perfect for a six pack! Actually, the most I've used it has been for leftovers.

Thanks for the info, been hesitant to put a rack or anything on my bike but more frequently I've been finding myself out and about without a bag and needing to run errands or pick up stuff. If it can hold a 6 pack, I'm sold
