I had one going bad after 2 years. It happens. They replaced it. Their customer and after sale service s A1.

HR straps don't have a long lifespan, regardless of the brand.

As you’ll recall from upthread, I replaced a Tickr sometime before you did, and my replacement is still working.

More interestingly, though, is that i tried the new strap on the old main unit, and it worked fine, so I got a new strap for that older unit, and have been using it during this time period, too.

it suggests that rather than the transmitter going bad, it may be that the strap is the source of the problem. On my old strap, after looking closely, I discovered the female snap piece is made of multiple pieces, and the outermost piece, or shell, came off due to corrosion, revealing the extent of the corrosion to be completely between the two parts. Maybe the corrosion is effectively blocking the signal from getting to the transmitter, or at least causing the wonky readings. The transmitter would light up when both ends were connected to the strap, so some current was flowing.

Heard from them this morning. Since there was no firmware update needed, they are sending me a new one.

Great. Not surprised to read this. They usually don't bother and just send a new unit. Great customer service = more profit on the long run anyways.

Polar H10 review
After a couple of Garmin HRMs and then the Kickr, I got the Polar H10. It's more expensive than my older HRMs.

Good:
The strap seems better. I expect the elastic to last longer, and the sensor pads are smooth and dense -- will they last longer? I think so.
No wetting of contacts needed -- I just put on the strap, and it starts working within 10 seconds. Good.
The sensor just snaps into the strap, on top with two metal snap connections. I can unclip one side when I'm done with a session, so maybe this extends the battery life?
A good, low profile strap clip too.

I don't have a very big chest, but the strap is mostly extended. It seems too small for larger users.

Annoyances:
CR2025 instead of CR2032. It's a slightly thinner version of the 2032. Now I have a set of 2025 for this and many CR2032 for everything else. (I think there's reports of the 2032 working, but I didn't want to jam it into the compartment.)

How easy is it to replace the battery on the Polar?

I had one many years ago and it required a special little screw driver, which I could never seem to find. The Wahoo TickR had an easy open compartment using a coin.
