Bike rack for Corvette convertible C6
I am looking to transport 1-2 bikes with my 2006 Corvette convertible. I imagine a similar post has been posted previously but I am not finding it. (Perhaps I am not using the correct search terms.) Here are the things that keep me awake:
The car has the performance exhaust which precludes using the usual corvette hitch
The Deck lid is fiberglass and may not take the pressure of a trunk mounted unit intended for use with a metal deck lid.
The bumper is the soft kind, though I think I can find something solid under the car to mount a strap.
Has anyone tackled this issue?
THanks,
Mark Ainsworth

Roll bar mount if available.

I think you'd be asking for trouble using any kind of rack resting on fiberglass.

I was in a similar predicament and found no viable solution, which included sea suckers, that would not pose serious risk of damage to my bike and sports car, so I used my pick up.

Yeah... I probably wouldn't put a rack on your vette. I rarely want to put my bike on my Subaru since it shoots flames out every now and then.

Kill the performance exhaust and go back to stock exhaust. You can only go so fast on public roads.

With the 'vert, you're outta luck. I don't know what exactly it is as far as customization, but I've seen lots of Vettes with trailer hitches for track/autox trailers, I'd imagine unless you really have something ridiculous there is a hitch option available. I'm probably picking up one for my C4 in the not too distant future.
Not on a 'vert!
EDIT: oh OP, that's why your name looked familiar, I saw this same thread on the Corvette Forums yesterday!

Willing to put holes in it for a luggage rack like above, you can do similar for a bike carrier
after all there are ways to carry a bicycle on a motorcycle ...

I had a 95 vette convertible and they did not recommend any hitch on the rear of it. But then, I did not buy it to cart my bike around. Not slamming you for wanting to do it at all. It is not a practical car for every day life . VERY fun to drive though. Finally sold it last year.
Good luck on your hunt.
