Bike rack for Corvette convertible C6

I am looking to transport 1-2 bikes with my 2006 Corvette convertible. I imagine a similar post has been posted previously but I am not finding it. (Perhaps I am not using the correct search terms.) Here are the things that keep me awake:

The car has the performance exhaust which precludes using the usual corvette hitch

The Deck lid is fiberglass and may not take the pressure of a trunk mounted unit intended for use with a metal deck lid.

The bumper is the soft kind, though I think I can find something solid under the car to mount a strap.

Has anyone tackled this issue?

THanks,
Mark Ainsworth

There's got to be a hitch solution. Find a place that does custom hitches.

Jut be careful if you have carbon rims near a sports car exhaust on a hitch rack....

I think you'd be asking for trouble using any kind of rack resting on fiberglass.

I was in a similar predicament and found no viable solution, which included sea suckers, that would not pose serious risk of damage to my bike and sports car, so I used my pick up.

This - If you can afford a Corvette, you can afford to buy a beater car to haul bikes ........

Yeah... I probably wouldn't put a rack on your vette. I rarely want to put my bike on my Subaru since it shoots flames out every now and then.

Kill the performance exhaust and go back to stock exhaust. You can only go so fast on public roads.

Sorry for the news man, the only solution is to trade it in for a mini van.

With the 'vert, you're outta luck. I don't know what exactly it is as far as customization, but I've seen lots of Vettes with trailer hitches for track/autox trailers, I'd imagine unless you really have something ridiculous there is a hitch option available. I'm probably picking up one for my C4 in the not too distant future.

Bike rack for a Corvette? Sounds like a fair trade to me! I've got a Saris Bones, only about 10 years old.

It's an '06. Twelve years old. C6 Vettes go for less than a new Prius. If you can afford a Prius, you can afford a beater to haul bikes. /ftfy

I guess we're not allowed to enjoy cars here? Tell @Mark-Ainsworth that while he's at it, he should pull the LS, and put in a nice, 1.4l I-4, since you don't need all that HP, anyway.

Guy came looking for creative ideas, and you lot start picking at his life choices. Who peed in your Wheaties?

Found this thing at www.vetterack.com ; Might work as a base for a couple of full-length Yakima-type bike trays.

Willing to put holes in it for a luggage rack like above, you can do similar for a bike carrier

after all there are ways to carry a bicycle on a motorcycle ...

I had a 95 vette convertible and they did not recommend any hitch on the rear of it. But then, I did not buy it to cart my bike around. Not slamming you for wanting to do it at all. It is not a practical car for every day life . VERY fun to drive though. Finally sold it last year.
Good luck on your hunt.
