Goal: 400 miles
Miles TD: 558
Rides: 17
Elevation (ft): 22,374
Fun fact: I'm at 5051 miles for the year, with 41 miles climbed.

Next big ride should be the Paluxy Pedal, with the notorious Wall. They are doing a gravel ride this year, but it's an evening/night ride, which I don't care for. Not interested in getting chased by dogs in the dark.

Holy crap! I beat Matt! Sometimes, dreams do come true.

Barely made it to 200 . I think that’s my personal best . Tough riding this evening , started out it was 95 degrees ended with it at 91 . But I wanted to break 200 . And I finished off the month on my old Specialized Hardrock. For distance riding it doesn’t seem to bother my knees as bad . The Brooks Imperial works great on this bike too .

You certainly did, and by quite a margin. I’m both honored and filled with chagrin at the same time.

I have just over 5,600 miles for the year, but you’ve got about 12 miles on me in the climbing department!

Goal 200, rode 192. Still, I'm 158 miles ahead of last year. Hampered by high winds.

Goal for October: 100.

I beat you 1 month out of 9, so I will bask in this (short lived) glory. You need to come down south and ride. We have hills, dogs and chipseal. Make you strong like bull. Seriously, most of the Lone Star or FWBA group rides are pretty good routes. The Lone Star ride last Saturday out of Arlington (River Legacy) was a really nice route, goes up through DFW airport, very little traffic.

You had me at "come down south to ride". You lost me at "hills, dogs and chipseal". That's the trifecta of unpleasantry.

Late start to September, recovering from the end of August cold I had...working in some strength training days at the gym, so Sept goal is 150. Didn't make it. End of September sucked worse than the beginning. Our a/c went out so I was hitting the gym rather than the bike, because I didn't want to ride in the 95 degree weather we were having here only to come home to a 90 degree house. To add insult to injury, the heat was too much for our oldest dog and she died Saturday night at a friend's house - we moved her when we saw what a hard time she was having with the heat, but it was too late. So I haven't been feeling motivated. I will, however, ride in October with a new goal, but might not start for a few more days.

9/4 10.47
9/6 10.49
9/8 10.41
9/10 10.51
9/11 10.47
9/13 8.34
9/15 12.22
9/17 10.47
9/18 10.45
9/20 2.44
9/24 10.5
9/25 10.7

Sept to date 117.47
2019 to date 1316.8

Sorry about your oldest dog, that’s rough. The heat in the South is no joke, that’s for sure.

You would have hated the Paluxy Pedal today. Roads were great, no dogs, no traffic, tons of climbing. My first time doing the wall, it went OK. I was dealing with some food poisoning issues, so I wasn't very spunky. After about 15 feet on the part that is over 20%, I started doing the slalom routine (my Strava looks like a sawtooth). Then I started going over my mental checklist to get off the bike and walk it up, when I noticed the photographer at the top of the climb. I don't mind shaming myself in public, but I can't have it on the public record. So, I nutted up and got it done. It wasn't that physically hard (I mean, I did it in under 5 minutes, and I'm not exactly a mountain goat), the difficulty was figuring out how to mechanically get this wheeled contraption up such a steep grade. I'm glad I didn't take my Tarmac, I don't think the 11-28 would have worked for me.

That sounds...intriguing. I hear 20% grade and it sounds horrible. And at the same time, we’ll interesting.
