Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Anybody want to test out their French skills?

I want to buy a Look item on this French page (I have figured out how to add it to the cart and select shipping to the USA but I gave up when I tried to start filling out my info. Mlle? Mdde? wha?).

Anyway, I realize a strange question to ask, but who wouldn't mind guiding me through this? These guys are selling this item for hella cheap, or at least cheaper than US retailers (even after the Euro conversion).

Thanks

Probably ....

Mlle? = mademoiselle
Mdde? = madame

If you aren't one of those, you are likely a monsieur.

Maybe post a link to the site and I can make an order and translate for you. I took 3 years of French in high school, not sure how much that will help. If I can't, I'm sure there's a Canadian from Quebec on here somewhere.

The form is probably in pretty much the same format as it would be in English. Title, last name, first name, address, etc.

I'm a Canadian (although not from Quebec) in first year University French, if you post the form, I can probably get you through most/all of it.

Awesome, thanks!

I need 42 center to center or 44 in outside measurements. I'm pretty sure that ext/ext means outside to outside?

Anyway, I selected the 44 cm bars (hopefully ext/ext is outside to outside). and hit selectionner.

On the next page I hit "Mon pays de livraision" and hit USA (I'd imagine this is to calculate shipping?)

The page recalculates everything and I end up with 188.39 Eur after "port", which I'd imagine is the shipping cost.

"Pays de destination choisi" is still clicked on USA, so I hit "Commander" (hey I know that word!)

Now the fun part: "Nouveaux Clients"

Code postal : Ville :
Pays : USA

I think I can understand most of this, although I hope that "Pays" refers to my shipping country and not my currency method. I haven't gone past this part yet so I don't know what comes after. Anyway, many thanks for checking it out! These bars are raad

I would guess that you are right - exterieur to exterieur

Thanks guys. I'm working on a "borrowed" connection here at home so I will post more at work once I get farther into the purchasing menu.

Hey, a question for those who have travelled abroad... Does the standard old USA Mastercard work when they request the "Euro Mastercard"?

Update: I managed to get through everything and received an order confirmation in my inbox. The confirmation is of course in French, but it appears that everything is in order. Thanks much!
