The BF Tea Party...

When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the moderatorial bonds which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the mountain bike, the separate and equal station to which the laws of 26" wheels and of nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation from vbulliten v.4.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that not all vBulliten rev's are created equal, that they are over-rated by their Creator with certain downgrades, that among these are visual aesthetics, glitzy buttons that are un needed and the pursuit of something that didn't need fixed. That to secure these rights, Admins are instituted among Moderators, deriving their unjust powers from the consent of the need to conform to Internet Brands. That whenever any form of tyranny becomes destructive to my spare time, it is the right of the BF.net members to alter or to abolish it, and to institute a new forum, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their sanity and comfort zone.


IB has combined with vB to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our mental capacity, and unacknowledged by our request; giving "the man" assent to the acts of pretended legislation:

For imposing changes on us without our consent.

For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of old formats.

For abolishing the free system trash talk and the most basic form of verbal attacks.



We, therefore, the representatives of the United Mountain Bikers Forum Faction in the land of the interwebz, in General consensus, assembled, appealing to the Supreme Being of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the name, and by the authority of the good people of these forums, solemnly publish and declare, that these changes are, and of right ought to be cast over into the proverbial ocean like i-Tea.

We mutually pledge to each other our spare tubes, our snarky comments and our sacred honor.

Things are becoming more clear. Internet Brands owns VBulletin; that's why this new beta is being rammed down our throats. They want to show off their 'baby.' Seems they're creating quite a stir in the forum industry with some recent actions:

I still remember when vbulletin was a glint in the scheme. Good ground works team of solid developers with a buy/sell business model. Good guys. bummer to see it go to crap.

Why do they need anyones consent. Never understood this concept. Its a free site...don't like it...lump it. I hated pinkbike...I posted a message and left. Lots of us did back in the day, did they change...nope. Did it stop their growth, nope. New people came, saw and didn't remember the previous "feel" and liked it. I can say this about over 10 forums btw from bike forums, to professional forums, to web forums...

For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of old formats.
Change isn't always bad, I prefer most of the new feel, but there are some things missing that I hope they can bring back, but I deal with multiple interface changes pretty much daily in my job. Change is the last thing I am worried about, especially when I come to a site like this to relax.

For abolishing the free system trash talk and the most basic form of verbal attacks.
can't argue this one, my visits went down due to the vanillaization of the site. The cynical sarcasm, bitter responses and good ole jabbing is something I miss. It comes in ebbs and flows of course.

I use Vbulletin but use an older version, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Doing an upgrade especially on a site of this size is beyond what most of you can even imagine. Don't be such haters, if you think you could do better then STFU and build your own site and see what it takes. I agree with most of you and do not like the upgrade and flaws that have been left behind in numerous forums. I'm not sure if rolling it back is even an option but give the admin a little credit and dry it already.
