Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Lots of respect. I wouldn't mind hanging out with these guys for a week in a "beginner" course and learn a thing or two about having balls of steel.

I suspect it might involve learning a thing or two about the inside of a Latin American emergency room...

Awesome, that urban stuff is so claustrophobic compared to trail riding.

Imagine living in a city with that kind of vertical? I suspect the same is true of everyone who watches these; the neck keeps craning ever upwards to see what is ahead!

That is SUPER-BAD!!!!

No really, how do you even start setting up a course like that. I felt sick just watching it! Never would I be able to think about doing that.

Thanks for sharing and confirming I am a very much a road rider.

I can say with about 98% certainty that I would have killed myself in the first 10 seconds of that ride.

I dont know for certain, though I would imagine its race coordinators. Mid way and at the bottom, there were groups of other riders, so I would imagine it to be an organized event which tells me it wouldn't be the police. I have a feeling the whistles are to let them know it is clear and safe to continue.
