Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Single Speed Set up: FSA vs Ritchey

I'm typically in the Classic & Vintage section..... as if you couldn't tell from the Shimano 600 drillium brake non aero levers and Mafac Racers presently on my SteamRoller......
I recently picked up some long reach TEKTROs (brakes and levers) to make this 700c or 650b as part of a future 650b bad-idea project.

Presently I have an FSA crankset on the bike, Ritchey headset, and eventually a Ritchey stem.

My question - since I like things matchy-match in a C&V kind of way - for a nice, final bike build, what's got the better single speed-dirt road cred? FSA or Ritchey? Ritchey no longer make cranks, so I'm well aware I'm stuck there. So I'm thinking I go nearly full FSA - seatpost, headset, stem (all kind of matching the crankset I got....)
(as far as handle bars, I'm going order up some Surly Truck Stop Bars.... as I cannot find the SOMA Falcon (version 1) any where)

I guess this is kind of a "help me build up my bike" thread. I hate this green somebody painted it. I appreciate the joke - John Deere green on a steamroller - but, man! hate the look!
The end goal for the whole project is a no label copper color paint, hopefully finding away to verdigris the pain a bit, add a copper "S" head badge, and black components. Probably silver spokes, I think, with black/machined sidewall rims.

that's it. thanks. have a nice day. cheers, etc. etc. und so weiter.....
