Leica Repair Centers for a 1930's IIIa

Since there are a fair number of avid vintage camera buffs here, any recommendations for repairs/restoration of an old Leica screwmount rangefinder?

It seems like the legendary camera repair folk I used to use for my Nikon F's have retired, died, etc.

Check on the Leica rangefinder forums for recommendations. There are several. I have a IIIf from 1951.

I'm more of a Contax II/III guy, but I'll make some inquires.
FWIW, I had a Zorki 1 (Soviet knock-off of a Leica II) repaired in the Ukraine. Don't know if I'd trust a real Leica to overseas mail, though.

Check this link. There is a grid at the bottom with some recommendations.

Another recommendation.

Go to the forums at DPReview.com and inquire there. Listed below is Leica's repair facility here in the U.S.:

Repair & Maintenance // Service & Support - Leica Camera AG

Best of luck with your "RED DOT".

I'm watching this thread with interest. The little old man I took my IIIf to every few years to check for shutter accuracy seems to have disappeared. His shop is still in the same place but I haven't seen it open for over a year.

Being a Contax guy, Sherry slipped my mind.
My buddy Bern is a Leica guy, and has two or three IIIB (the last Leica available in the US prior to the war). He's had very good luck with Sherry. He also thinks well of Youxin Ye.\
But he DOES prefer LTM Zeiss lenses.

Youxin Ye is fast and does great work. Very reasonably priced. Sherry Krauter and DAG are certified Leica techs and best of the best. Expensive. Slow. I've used Youxin Ye several times and always been pleased with his work.

+1. This is pretty much what I would have suggested. Same comments, too.

I have a 1936 IIIa among my collection. I no longer use it, tho. Perhaps I should . . .

Sorry to hijack this thread but maybe someone here can help I want to buy a newer Nikon DSLR body but I want to make sure it will work with two older SLR lenses I have, especially the 70-300m one. They are from the autofocus era .

My D3000 suits my needs but I'd like to be able to use the older longer lense

Precision Camera advertises "classic camera repairs" from clean and check to CLA to overhaul.
https://www.precision-camera.com/in-...amera-repairs/

Large outfit, which may have its plusses and minuses but at least won't vanish because somebody forgot to pay rent.

Have just one Leica and one antique Contax, myself.

Between them, the Contax is insanely complicated.

Contax IIIa, the PzKpfw V of 35mm rangefinders, a monument to German over engineering.
