I dobt carry a spare tire as i dobt venture so far away from civilization that i would need one.
A tire boot would get me to a town with tires.

I use Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires,in 700x32 and I carry a spare for an emergency but I wanted something light so I carry a Continental Grand Prix in 28mm.It only weighs 11oz.

You don't mean packing the spare around the waist?
I think it really would depend on the ride. When I was riding on sewups, I would pack several of them for a long ride.
If I was heading out on a month or several month expedition, I might consider packing a spare, especially if I thought my favorite tire might be tough to acquire on the road, or I had enough miles planed to grind through a tire anyway.
Otherwise, for a few hundred miles, I would probably only bring a spare if I thought one of my tires on the bike already had critical damage, at which point one should probably just replace it before heading out on the road.
I've now caught the weight-weenie bug, and am trying to think how to minimize touring weight/bulk, so that alone might nix a spare.

Space and weight are the two reasons I do not carry a spare tire. I use Schwalbe Marathon Mondial tires . I've had 1 flat in 12,000 miles and they seem to have plenty more miles to go.

3. Can I use something else and get hte same result?
and the big decision point:
I either need it (not talking want here) or I don't. If I don't need it it does not go with me.
So for me:
Even riding in the remote outback on dirt roads and rough tracks (not bitumen) do I need a spare tyre? Can I leave home with quality robust tyres in good condition fitted to the wheels? If yes, then I don't need a spare tyre and so my answer is I am going to tour without a spare tyre. I can carry a tyre boot but probably wouldn't do that either. "Just in case" is no longer a reason for me to take something. Instead I would look at making use of something I already carried or can get from the side of the road.

Again BTH nobody is trolling you, we are just tired of seeing the same posts over and over about the same topics or same general outline. What are your thoughts on "specific item here"? or Do you do "this" and you already have your mind made up and aren't really seeking guidance nor opinions on better or worse products.
Maybe what might work best as we have told you before is create one thread called the BTH Question thread and you can post everything there and repost the same question as many times as you want within that specific thread. Or one thing we can do as a sub-forum is have a "Quick Questions and Answers" thread like we do for the SS/FG subforum and we won't always need to make so many new threads all the time for small stuff.

Well, I'd guess that if you think on a per mile basis, these tires are not expensive at all. 12K and I expect many more miles from them. And I haven't felt a need to purchase, yet alone bring along a spare .

on whether you're planning to have a really bad thing happen.
what are the odds? do you also decide whether to wear your seat belt or
not depending on whether you're planning to have an automobile accident?
honey, wear your seat belt! but moooooom, i'm not gonna hit nobody today!
so. okay. real life example. touring in a developed area, riding across
the southwest, cruising downhill near red rocks park heading towards
las vegas on a major highway, last day of the tour. absolutely beautiful
smooth as silk fresh black asphalt.
mmm, the yummy smell of new tar! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....bam!
oops! didn't see that 6" chuck of rebar covered in black tar on a fresh
black asphalt road! missed the front, but it speared the rear tire,
taking out a huge chunk of rubber. nothing to boot. not life-threatening,
since i can flag down an rv and get to vegas. of course, i had a spare
tire, so assistance was unnecessary. but if it happened a few hours
earlier an a rarely-trafficked dirt road in the desert? it's the last day
of the tour, and only 30 miles or so to the highway. so do i really need
to carry more than one bottle of water? or is it just a want?

BTW I don't consider a tyre "failure" a really bad thing; YMMV of course.
Personally I would be more inclined carry some duck tape than a spare tyre ...

In all the touring and randonnee riding I have done, I have carried a spare folding tyre once, and that was recently, and wasn't for my benefit. My very first tour saw the rear tyre of my bike down to canvas -- it was the cheap tyre that came with the bike. Maybe I lead a charmed life, but I have never felt the need to carry a spare tyre for my use, probably because I look at where I am going, and moderate my speed to suit the road conditions. Even so, I do carry a plastic tyre boot should a split occur somewhere along the line.
If you asked about inner tubes, then I would say that on most tour and randonnee rides, I carry two or three.

I don't bring a spare tire with me, because tires wear in very predictable ways, and with some research it should be fairly easy to predict when a tire on a long tour will need replacement. If you're planning a very long tour, I'd suggest mailing a tire to a town around the 1,500 mile mark, or otherwise plan on buying one around that point. So yes, if you're leaving on a tour with relatively new tires (< 100 miles), plan on replacing at least the rear tire at about 1,500 miles. Could be sooner if you're carrying an especially heavy load.
Also, another trick on long tours is to switch your front tire, which is ostensibly under less weight, around the halfway point on your tour. This will ensure that both tires receive equal wear, and potentially allow you to defer replacing your rear tire for several hundred more miles.
