Best replacement brake pads for these Exage cantis?
I'm cleaning up a Schwinn CrossCut, and wondering what to do about these Exage brakes. I could watch out for a different set of cantis, but if I keep them, what pads would work as replacements?

Crosscut is a great bike and these are very good calipers worth saving. I use these pads: https://www.ebay.com/itm/175728344904
These are the same and named for Exage: https://www.ebay.com/itm/154960761522
Save the old hardware, depending on the geometry sometimes the original orbital washers work better than the ones that come with the new pads. My Crosscut was fine with either but a Crisscross I had needed the original hardware to get the angle right.

I wouldn't go to the trouble, just throw a couple sets of these on it if you don't want to spend a lot.

For canti upgrades I start with Tektro but my favorites, the CR 720's, have become nearly impossible to find and quite pricey. The Onyx line is still reasonable and they use V-brake style pads and adjustment.

Must be symmetrical
Any threaded pad should work, so for v brakes. Not the smooth post canti pads.
Kool stop eagle 2 threaded would be my choice byt you would need to reuse the spacers. Eagle 2 v pads would work fine. These pads are thicker, similar to the original, than often found today, so the spacing will work better imo.
Re money savings, i penny pinch on everything, careful to keep costs down on builds. Except for brake pads. Get good pads. It is really worth it.

Following Mark900, I found some KoolStop threaded pads among my collection (a few bags of odd brakes and brake parts). With a bit of fiddling around with spacers and cupped spacers I've got them fitted.

I also went with Kool-Stops on my Crosscut with Exage cantilevers and they’ve been working great.

Thanks. I painted it myself. This was my first go at a two-tone scheme on a lugged frame. I like it so much that I recently repainted another bike that way. This one was originally red so I used Barcelona Red Metallic and Universal Black automotive touch up paint from Dupli-Color, and I also used their clear coat. I recreated the decals from the originals but did them in black. It’s a great-riding bike and, even though I try to rotate through my bikes for rides, I find myself picking this one out of turn.
