Looking for lightweight fast tires
I don't run 700 tires on my bikes but my husband does on one of his bikes. He needs to replace his 700 x 32 tires. He has room for much wider tires so we are thinking something between 37 and 44mm for width. He mostly bikes in the upper midwest where flats are rarely an issue. He has nice lightweight folding tires on his mountain bike. Something similar would be nice.
I thought Panaracer Pasalas came in 700 x 37s in a folding tires but I can't seem to find any.
Any suggestions on tires and sources? This is somewhat of an emergency as his rear tire is now looking unsafe.

I'm curious why you want something wider than 32s, if you want lightweight and fast. I'd be more tempted to go for 28s, if that's what you're looking for. Is he riding offroad with them?

Try this site - shipping will take 1-2 weeks but the prices are usually great and the selection is huge

I pre-selected 700cx37mm but you can play around with sizes till you find what you want.
As long as his front tire looks good I wouldn't worry TOO much about the safety of the rear.

I'll throw bikesomewhere.com out there. They have about 100 tires in sizes 700x35 thru 700x40. I'm sure you could call them to make sure the ones you want are in stock. When I order from them on Amazon, I get the product before Amazon gives me a ship notice. They ship from FL, so it might take a day or 2 to reach you out there on the frontier.

The Vittoria Voyager Hyper (formerly the Randonneur Hyper) is a fast, relatively light-weight touring tire with decent flat protection. It is available in sizes up to 700x38. This is, essentially, a slick tire so it won't be terribly good off-road. On-road, they're terrific!

RivBike has the Jack Brown 33.33 tires , they are all folding bead, the difference is a Kevlar Tread belt , or not.
Merry Sales is wholesaling them, so if your LBS, has a Merry sales account, the retail margin includes shipping .

Boy it is surprising how many of the mentioned tires are out of stock.
I am continuing to look. I may go for the Jack Browns, though pricey.

Plus 2!
I have the 32mm version and want to upgrade to the 38mm version. Great tires!
Barrettscv, I spent about 10 minutes today looking for the picture you posted because it's the only image I've seen of 38mm Hypers on a bike. I had this image on my PC forever but couldn't find it so I went looking. I should have waited a couple of hours for this thread.
Also, since this image is up.....what handlebars are on that Soma?
