Help identifying old Fuji Racer Model

Help identifying old Fuji Racer Model
HI
I picked up a Fuji racer for it Suntour Superbe parts, however it is too nice to strip for parts and would like to restore it.
I believe it may of been repainted and has no Decals,
I would like to restore and get the correct Decals.
It has a Serial number E 413
I have seen a post with a Fuji bike E 414 and it is an Opus III, it has Suntour Superbe all round , with high flanges and GP4 rims.
I believe the Quill has been swapped out as it is a XA Cellini.
The Fork crown however does not have just "F" surrounded by start, the the word FUJI
So the Frame number points to a high end Model as does the groupset.. ( one of my favorite groupsets) .
And Fuji folks have an idea on what the Model could be ..
Any method to help in determining the Model ?
I can not post pictures as I have not added 10 posts ..

Welcome to the forums. The serial number indicates your Fuji was manufactured during May 1984 as part of the Fuji Design Series, which means it is either a Professional or Opus III. If it has Superbe Pro all around, then it should be a Professional, as the Opus III had downgraded brakes (Dia-Compe) and hubs (Sunshine), Besides the stem, the rims have been replaced.

Mid 80s Fujis are great bikes. Odd how the 1984 spec sheet lists the Pro as having Suntour Superbe Pro components, but the paragraph under the picture states it has Campagnolo Super Record components.

I believe they offered two versions of this bike the basic Proffestional with all Japanese Superbe components and a full race version with Campagnolo components. As for Id the Op's bike is likely the basic Pro model with a few components changes of the years.

If you read the catalogue description, it says the Professional can be ordered with either Japan's finest racing equipment or Campagnolo Super Record.

Do you have any photos of the frame to post? The bottom bracket shell, dropouts, and lugs have very distinct traits onthe upper level Fuji's. The short serial number does point to it being one of the premium models.

OK thanks, I see if people agree its a professional before ordering..
I am building up an old Concorde SLX frame with a 7402 group set in the mean time, that will give me time to clean up the Fuji

It actually looks to be original paint to me metalic grey would be an OEM correct color for an early to mid 80's Fuji. As for decals they had panels to match each of the Fuji colors but they were basically the same across models so finding the correct set for this bike shouldn't be that hard . as said velo does have the repo set with grey panels.

I received my book order Japanese Steel today
From the photo'sin the book the Professionals seem to have very different "fancy" Lugs and also clamps for the brake cable.
The Lugs on my frame look like the OPUS III. ( The serial number is one different from another post of an OPUS III )
I have GP4 rims ( they were also mentioned on other posts ) and Superbe brakes so maybe some options were changed or upgraded.
I also read that the old water decals can just "disappear with no trace"
From what I read the Professional and Opus III were very close.

Looks to almost certainly be an Opus III. Great find, the Opus III is one of the finest frames ever made.
